Had a wonderful experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/07
Last May my husband and I celebrated his birthday at the Avalon. He had never been to the Keys before even though we live in Florida. We had a nice room next to the pool. It was small but very nice and liked the way it was private. The staff was wonderful and were very glad to help out with whatever we needed. They made our stay in the Keys memorable and we will definitely stay there again. Have recommended it to others. Loved the cats too.

Best Place To Stay In Key West
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/06
Our stay at the Avalon was out of this world. First of all Yvonne and Caroline were helpful from check-in to check-out. The rooms were wonderfully appointed and quiet. Breakfast on the porch was delightful, plenty of sightseeing within walking distance. In July the heat in Key west was a bit much, but our room always stayed nice and cool. The only drawback to the Avalon is that parking is sparse, although Yvonne pointed out a lot around the corner that you can pay a modest $12 to park for the duration of your stay. We fell in love with Key West and the Avalon. A definate MUST if you visit Key West. Well worth the money!

The Avalon is heaven!
By Lola, 10/12/06
Due to a bad experience we were having at another B&B we were in a frantic search for a new place to stay and my husband found The Avalon! Thankfully they had a room since we had no reservation. We loved it! Everyone there was so very nice and we had a beautiful room! The breakfast was great too! The heat in Key West was unbearable for me but our room was nice & cool and very enjoyable and comfortable. I have never stayed anywhere where the people were so friendly. Thanks to The Avalon, our stay in Key West was awesome! The Avalon is a beautiful place to be!

Great Place To Visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/06
This year we decided to take a driving holiday in Florida and spent a couple of days in Key West. We hadn't booked accommodation and came across the Avalon at the quieter end of Duval St and only a short walk from all the nightlife. We took advantage of one of a two night "special". Everything was excellent: the friendliness of the staff (especially Yvonne and Caroline, who couldn't do enough for us); the rooms with their Key West character; the breakfast whcih was taken on the porch in a great spot to watch the workld go by. All in all an excellent place and one I would book again if in Key West.

Wonderful, relaxing visit!
By Bret, 07/10/06
We stayed here last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. From our initial contact making reservations, we found the staff/management to be extremely accommodating and helpful. We were only going to be in Key West for one night, on a Friday, and most b&bs had a 2-night minimum. When I spoke with Yvonne at Avalon, she told me that they too had a 2-night minimum, but that they would be willing to waive it (for a slightly higher rate) since they were not sold out and since it was our anniversary. The week after we booked it, we found out that we'd be able to stay a second night, so we ended up in a very nice room at the regular rate, for 2 nights. The room was simple yet very pretty, very Key West in feel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the housekeeping excellent. The breakfast in the mornings was out on the front porch, so it was nice for people-watching. We loved the location -- at the quiet end of Duval, away from most of the crowds and noise. We would stay there again in a heartbeat, with or without the kids. Most of their rooms have one bed, but several have two to accommodate families.

Enjoyed
By Gussie, 07/26/05
This was our 4th trip to Key West. We love staying in B & B's. I was very impressed that it was true to form for Key West and it's love and care of animals. They have 2 wonderful cats which I especially enjoyed. Can't wait for my next trip to this absolutely wonderful town.

Quiet, comfortable, affordable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/03/05
Loved the place. My wife and I have been there several times over the past 7 years and have truly enjoyed our stays. However, we haven't been back since the management changed.

VERY Bad Experience!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/24/05
Key West is my favorite vacation spot. Luckily, I live in Florida so I get to travel there several times a year for fun and work as well. I am a huge fan of each and every bed and breakfast experience I've had, until last weekend. I am around 30 years old and vacationed with 2 other girls the same age. From the second we entered the facility, the staff was rude and made us feel uncomfortable during our entire stay. Not only that, but we were accused of doing things we didn't do simply because we were the youngest guests... they even threatened to throw us out. One of the greatest appeals of a B&B is the hospitality and this one doesn't have it. The rooms are decent, the pool is extremely small and the staff is the worst I've ever experienced. Do your research, there are plenty of good ones...try Casa325 or Ambrosia House.

Avalon Bed & Breakfast
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/12/04
We visited the hotel in the summer 2003 and we had a lovely stay. They were very helpful, nice and charming room/house and a great location. We would very much like to go there again.
