Cheap, good location, but needs more
We booked this hotel as part of a package with Yahoo/travelocity. Good points: This is a small hotel close to I-15, but private. {Turn in the parking lot between the carl jr and subway}. Places to eat and gas up in walking distance. Close to Antelope Island (Great Salt Lake). The staff is nice. It's close to shopping and dining and was a good location for traveling in all directions (WY, Utah, Id, Mt) like we wanted to do. It's very close to Hill AFB. It accepts pets which is why it must be so popular with guests, cause it doesn't offer much else. Pillows are good. Looks good and seems safe.
The problems: The beds are just marginal at best, the free breakfast is meager. Includes OJ, 2% milk, 2 cereals, bagels and bread-like "waffles", cheap pastries. They run out of everything. It never varies and you will get tired of it quickly. They expect the clerks to do all jobs. There is no staff on duty. The "exercise room" has 3 machines in a small area with towels and large mirror. No pool. Internet access is a desktop next to the desk in the way of the lobby, no privacy. Just good enough to check driving directions. Minimum amenities with only basic cable with 1 HBO and mostly shopping and Spanish channels.
Our experience:
The first night we were put in a room, we got all settled in and it got hotter. THe a/c didn't work. The clerk came up and tried to help, but it was broken. We stayed in the hot room all night and I reminded the morning clerk to get it fixed. Assured it would happen. After 2 nights it was still broken, the maintenance man had not been in and there were no maids. I heard other guests complaining that their room had not been cleaned in 3 days. The manager/owner was out of town despite the numerous posted guarantees of "24/7 manager" signs. No help at all. The only one there was one overwhelmed clerk. I had to walk up and down the stairs 22 times. We were moved, but that ac was broken too. We were moved again, but to a room with lessor standards. No refrigerator/micro/clock. We had to throw all the food we bought away. They never tried to fix it, wouldn't move the refrigerator/microwave to our new room (an easy fix). We didn't ask for much and got less. The hotel is so small that there aren't many rooms to get changed to if there is a problem.
Stay here if you are only need a basic room with a pet and you only need to stay a day. Otherwise you will be disappointed because it is very basic.
