A Diamond in the rough! Fantastic!

This place is an undiscovered jewel! Located right off I-26 at exit 59 in Saluda, NC, The Lodge is perched right on the rim of the spectacular Green River Gorge, and the views are AMAZING! Their mountain-view courtyard is simply transcendent. You'd never know that you're just .2 miles from the interstate. Tranquil, serene, and awe-inspiring. I could take in that view for hours. Accompanied by soft music in the background and birds singing all around, the courtyard is a truly special place. A must-see if you're within 50 miles.
The Lodge is basically a recently renovated single-story motel with 25 rooms, and all of the rooms have been decorated in a woodsy, mountain-lodge motif. Very charming, very warm, very comfortable. Personal touches abound. From the afternoon chocolates to coffee-makers to tea and lemonade in the breezeway, the owners Wayne and Wendy go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and important. They live on premises and make sure their guests are happy and content. Plus, the conversations around the fire pit were engrossing, to say the least.
In short, the Saluda Mountain Lodge is a rare find. Combine the intimacy of a bed-and-breakfast with park-at-your-door convenience, add the spectacular views and unmatched hospitality of the owners (not to mention their prices are too low! Don't tell them!), and you have a rare jewel indeed. Highly recommended!
PS. Close to world-class rafting/tubing/kayaking on the famed Green River, Biltmore House, Chimney Rock/Lake Lure, Hendersonville, and of course, charming Saluda.
