Friendly and well located

The hotel is well located in old town right by the south-west wall next to Parc De L'Esplanade. This made it easy to explore not only old town but also the Citadelle and other areas of downtown Quebec City (e.g. tourist restaurants along the Grand Allee Est or spots for locals along Rue St. Jean).
Friendly owners with lots of helpful tips regarding dining choices and activities.
Room #31 was quite nice with a view of the old city wall and the Quebec National Assembly behind it. Reasonable size with comfortable beds, telephone, TV, air conditioner, fan and full bathroom. Only the chairs appeared a bit worn but, overall, we were positively surprised and pleased with the decor, comfort and amenities given that this is only rated as a 2-star property.
Although the Hotel does not appear to have its own parking, it was easy to use the public parkade just down the road (another advantage of being near one of the old town gates). The hotel made pre-purchased tickets available for only $10/day which represents a saving over the $15/day posted rate.
We stayed with kids on this trip and found the hotel family friendly. Also, there is a great playground virtually across the street in the Parc De L'Esplanade - Perfect for when the kids have had enough of Quebec City history!
Contintental breakfast was a bit modest for our tastes but definitely in the French style - Croissant with selected jams, fresh fruit, juice and choice of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Adding a few cereals and perhaps a couple of other backed goods would be an easy way for the hotel to round out the choice a bit without compromising the simplicity.
Would definitely stay there again.
BTW - Try the Gelato on Rue St. Jean! Good selection and resonably priced!
