Description

For starters, Scott & Karen Clark are outstanding hosts. Extremely friendly, knowledgable of the local area, and GREAT COOKS!!! Just try their breakfasts! This house is beautiful. Built in 1905, the Clarks keep it in an historic state for the enjoyment of the customer (We recomend the "Love" room). With 2 parlors and a formal dining room, you feel completely pampered, relaxed, and all with complete class. It's in prefect walking distance from the historic water front, and off the main street. Why drive (unless you want to) when you can enjoy a nice walk through town. The price (which isn't bad) is worth the stay. The Clarks know how to make you feel at home. We try and make it down al least once (if not twice) a year, and we only live 1 hour away. Thanks again Scott & Karen for a very enjoyable weekend! See ya soon, Rob & Beth Jaeger Hubert, NC

Worst Service EVER!
By ,
My husband and I wanted to go back to Wilmington for our anniversary. This would be our last anniversary together due to my husband deploying. We had a babysitter and everything for our one day getaway. I called on Wednesday to reserve the room. Scott was nice over the phone and helpful. On Saturday, we get to Wilmington early to walk around. We get a call around 11am reminding us of our reservation and check in is at 4pm. We get to the Taylor House at 4pm and Scott came to the door saying that the credit card number we gave him was stolen number and he gave our room to someone else. He didn't have the courtesy to call to ask if the number we gave him was correct or ask for another credit card number. I was humiliated in he did this in front of a costumer. I did check with my credit card company and there were no problems with my credit card. His lack of professional and heart has gave us a disgusting taste in our mouth. Due to it being last minute, we were unable to find a room anywhere in Wilmington and had to drive back home in humiliation and tears. This wasn't the anniversary getaway that I hoped for and there won't be a next one.

This was a great relaxing getway!
By ,
My husband booked the room called Joy to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversay in January. We were cordially greeted by Scott at the front door upon our arrival. Scott was very friendly, cheerful and smiling thru-out the entire weekend. We sat down in the front parlor and Scott told us all about what was going on in Wilmington that weekend, what restaurants he recommended and what to do and see in town. Also, we were given keys to the front door and our room, told were to park and told about coffee service and breakfasts in the morning. Scott then took us up to our room. We were in Joy; a lovely room with a King bed and a private bath with a tub. This room is furnished beautifully, not alot of over the top stuff all over, but done with great taste and ease. The entire house is warm, cozy, comfortable with some beautiful furnishing, art work and personal details. Our sheets were freshly ironed, our room was spotless, as well as the bathroom. We slept like in a coma; there was no noise from the house or the street to disturb us. Candlelight breakfasts in the formal dining room were very nice, relaxing and plentiful. It was perfect. We had a great time, we loved everything about this place. We walked every where, we saw lots, but we also relaxed and enjoyed; thanks to The Taylor House Inn Bed and Breakfast and to Scott. We will be back.

My husband and I recently stayed in the "Love" room and I know why it is called that - you will "LOVE" the room - so comfortable - Scott and Karen were wonderful hosts, there when you needed them yet not intrusive - the house was quite lovely, warm and inviting - breakfast was delicious, cooked by Karen, and Scott makes the most wonderful tea - we certainly plan to visit again and we highly recommend the Taylor House - Thank you Scott and Karen for opening your home to us - Sincerely, Margie and Lance Hopper

We LOVE the Taylor House Inn
By ,
It feels like going home to stay at the Taylor House Inn. Scott and Karen are the nicest, most entertaining people and perfectly suited to running a B&B. There are many things to see within walking distance of the inn - museums, restaurants, antique shops, beautiful old homes, gardens, etc. There are many fine restaurants as well, and the beautiful riverfront. My husband and I visited in early December in order to do a tour of historic homes in Wilmington. It is an annual event, and well worth the trip. There were at least a dozen private homes, museum homes and churches on the tour - all beautiful. Breakfast is not to be missed. Three courses of delicious home-made goodies, all topped off with plenty of fresh coffee. We can't wait to go back!

Worst B&B experience ever
By ,
Scott, the innkeeper is quite possibly the rudest person that I've ever met. I recommend that no one stay at this place. He seemed to be bothered by every single question that we asked. He had a constant attitude when speaking with us. He must have rolled his eyes at us a dozen times during our stay. When I asked him if he had any coffee available, he replied, "Not at 4 o'clock in the afternoon I don't". When we finally saw his wife, she said all of two words and didn't care to even introduce herself. Scott also demanded that we drink our red wine out on the porch in the middle of a thunderstorm because he was afraid that we would spill it inside of his house. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless you like paying $140/night to have someone be rude to you. This was my boyfriend's first time at a bed and breakfast. I'm afraid that I may never convince him to stay at another one again due to this horrible experience.

What a wonderful place!
By ,
We just love the Tailor House Inn. My husband and I have stayed there many times, and plan to return in December. The rooms are all charming and comfortable, and the breakfast is just superb - 3 courses, starting with fresh seasonal fruit, followed by fresh home-made muffins, and then the main course which varies daily. All delicious. Scott and Karen are very helpful with recommending restaurants, shopping spots, what's new in town, etc. The inn is conveniently located in the historic distict, and within easy walking to downtown, local museum houses, many fine restaurants and the Castle Street antique shops. We can't wait to go back!

what a great experience
By ,
Our children gave us a gift certificate to this lovely boutique inn. Our innkeepers, Scott and Karen, couldn't have been more accommodating or helpful. Scott helped us make the most of our time in Wilmington with suggestions of restaurants, favorite beach spots and the most wonderful waking tour. Our room was very lovely with chocolates on our pillow our first night. I especially felt spoiled with the freshly ironed sheets and fresh flowers. We had such a restful sleep, that I joked with Scott, that I was going to take the mattress home with me. :My husband and I loved the delicious breakfasts each morning, especially the frittata, with spinach, artichoke and bacon. This inn exceeded our expectations and we plan to come back soon. We had a wonderful anniversary thanks to caring innkeepers I would highly recommend this inn.

Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I were in town for a week to celebrate my grandmother's 95th birthday. After doing our research, we decided to try out Taylor House Inn. I had high expectations, but they blew them out of the water. We had flight delays and issues getting to town from Milwaukee, but Scott was accommodating and met us at the door when we arrived. Scott and Karen have a beautiful home that is inviting and unpretentious, and their personalities make you want to sit on the porch swing and talk with them all day. Our room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable and the food was amazing. We did ask a special favor of Scott and Karen - to make a special birthday breakfast for my grandma and my parents. They were able to accommodate our request since it was the middle of the week, and we were the only guests that night. Having a wonderful breakfast on china in a beautiful home served by lovely people was the highlight of my grandma's birthday. We highly recommend Taylor House Inn to anyone traveling in the area, and we will make it our home away from home whenever we travel to Wilmington.

Pleasant Stay
By ,
We have stayed at several B&B's in the last 7 years. This ties #1 with another one (Colorado) for food. The breakfasts were fantastic! We stayed 3 nights. The bed was very comfortable. The room clean and made up everyday when we returned. We loved that they had coffee and hot tea upstairs (in the hall) every morning at 8 am. They keep a mini-fridge with soda, and there is a water cooler in the upstairs hallway with mugs and wine glasses, wine opener should you bring your own wine. We had never stayed at a B&B that offered that extra something. Another thing to consider is not all B&B's offer private baths in each room this B&B does. We never met Karen but I don't think that really matters. Scott was the host. Upon check in he recommended places to eat and see on an area map. Again no other B&B had done that. Very good value. Again the breakfast was truly gourmet and started with some sort of fresh fruit with yogurt. Baked muffins, and the main entre which during our stay was corn meal pancakes with a strawberry sauce, french toast with almonds and cherry syrup and the best was the eggs with chorizo, cheese and spinach and a croissant. They were all served with sausage. We left feeling very full and satisfied.
