very very disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/26/09
Where do I begin...We were there for our daughters wedding, so we had lots of family and friends staying there (17 rooms). !st night we had to ask for the Maid of Honor to be moved, her room was full of mold and smelled so bad she woke up sick the next morning. Our daughter's suite reservation was lost for the wedding night they wouldn't do anything until she said she would move everyone to a different hotel. Brides Aunt had to move because of the mold also...different room. Grandparents of the Bride checked in and went to the room it was so bad they cheeked out within 30 min and drove 1 hour to stay with friends the rest of the weekend. missing out on all the family fun. Grooms Mother's room was NEVER cleaned and they were there for 3 nights, and nerver brought clean towels. Brides Father very upset the whole weekend and talk to the front desk 3 times they said they would have someone call him but 10 days later we still have not heard from them. They did admit they do have a mold problem and are working on it but why put people in those rooms???!! Why do you have to resort to threats to get the room you were promised????!!! And why tell us you (MGR) makes rounds to all the rooms every morning when it really isn't done. I would say if your thinking about staying here don't go on down the road.

would never go back
By sofair, 08/23/09
The price was right, but the room smelled awful - noticed one of the mattresses had been "hosed" just before leaving - hence the smell. I do not think that the bathroom was properly cleaned, but realized too late. The "continental breakfast" was a joke and the coffee was awful - luckily there was a name brand coffee place close by for the remaining mornings. This property is not near the beach at all either and that was dissapointing too. None of the promised amenities were delivered wifi did not work, etc, etc, ad nauseum

Very Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/09
Booked online. Pictures are very deceiving. The carpet in our room was nasty dirty, like it had been washed with a lot of soap but not rinsed, sticky. Light streamed in from sliding glass door, where the curtain would not close all the way (4 inch gap). The light from tiny unusable balcony, with decaying wood could not be turned off. Toilet seat was dangerously loose. Light from interior hallway shown through major gap between door and door jam. Air conditioner/heating unit caked with thick dust; smelled foul when ran. Loose broken tiles on landing in stairway. Pool dirty and small. Never could locate vending machines for sodas or ice. Pictures suggested hotel was close to water/beach, was not.

Will not return.

A fair amount of visual dis-repair (chipped paint, scratched furniture, etc). We had to ask for 2 burnt-out bulbs in the bathroom to be replaced. I was given the bulbs (taken from another room) and had to install them myself. When we asked for more toilet paper, the desk clerk responded that "you sure ask for a lot". It escapes me as to why replacing lightbulbs and toilet paper would be consideted "a lot". TVs are very small, are not suited for auxillary input devices and need to be updated.Channel selection very limited (no Fox News). We asked for suggestions for pressing a wedding dress and only received an "I don't know", twice! My wife would not walk bearfoot on the carpet after discovering the bottoms of her feet turned black with just a few minutes of walking on it. The price is about double what it should be. Overall this hotel ranks about equal to the Travel Lodge in Santa Cruz which is priced at 49.00 per night.

Glad we stayed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/08
We had reservations for the 16th & 17th of July, and the day we were to arrive we read "Emma's" review. After reading that review we were second guessing our choice. But as my sister pointed out we had nothing but courteous service with all the clerks who graciously changed our reservations to different days on 3 different occasions. We arrived, and were checked in by a very polite clerk. We didnt see any overflowing trash cans, in fact all the trash cans were covered! Our room was clean, and not at all "seedy". There was a cardboard box outside being picked up by a smiling maintenance man. He told us he just finished installing a new air conditioner in our room. We found the Capitola Inn to be charming, and the staff very helpful. We just wish we could have taken the coffee machine from the breakfast room when we headed home. (loved the french vanilla latte)

STAY AWAY!
By Gisella, 07/15/08
We made a reservation for July 12th, departing on the 13th. I called on the 11th just to confirm my reservation and was hung up on twice. I finally was able to reach the receptionist who told me to call back (rudely) as she was busy. I should have taken that as a hint not to go forth with our reservation. We arrived at 4pm and check in was at 3. Got our keys from another rude receptionist. Upon walking to our room we saw so many disgusting things. Overflowing garbage cans, thrown trash, a broken hotel chair outside of a room, food littering, etc. We got to our room and opened the door only to find that it was not even clean! Dirty, unmade bed, closed blinds, pizza boxes all over. It was absolutely disgusting. I demanded another room and they refused, said they were all booked even tho i argued that surely not everyone had checked in yet. She declined my request. We ended up canceling our reservation right there and went to Motel 6 which was MUCH better and cheaper too. I will NEVER return to this seedy hotel and recommend others stay away as well.

What A Gem - I'll be Back!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/13/08
I have previously stayed at the Capitola Inn and was quite please to see the changes that have been made since my last visit. The old ugly vinyl has been removed from the bathroom floor and it now has tile. They have also tiled the vanity in the bathroom. What a nice feature. I loved the heated pool and the ungraded continental breakfast is awesome. It includes fresh fruit, muffins, bagels, waffles and of course the coffee machine to end all coffee machines. You can make lattes, mochas, chai tea and it all tastes great. The front desk staff was very friendly and the housekeeping staff did a great job. I can't wait to go back.

Would not reccommend.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/28/08
We stayed here for the price but regret doing so. The pictures on the website of the rooms are nothing like what the rooms really look like. Ours was spacious and pretty clean, but very bare. We didn't even have a microwave or fridge. The sheets didn't fit the bed so they constantly came off. And to top it off, they didn't even clean our room. After a lovely dinner out, we had to come back to our room and make our own bed, and request clean towels. The only response we got when we informed the staff that our room wasn't cleaned was, "Great." I will say good coffee machine, but I'm not sure that makes up for having to clean our own room.

we will be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/21/08
We were told about this place by some friends who stopped here. We were not disappointed. The beds were comfortable, and clean. The towels were thick and new looking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. we loved the heated pool, even though it was cool outside we all swam in the 84 degree water. Loved, loved the coffee machine. My kids loved the chai latte selection. The value was great we saved about 65.00 a night staying here as opposed to some other places in Capitola. we have already made reservations to stay in July.
