Steamboat Inn, Mystic

We absolutely loved the Steamboat Inn! The staff was great, helpful, and met our every need. We stayed in Rm3, the Victoria Room, and our sister was next door in Rm 4. We would highly recommend these two rooms, with Rm 4 being our favorite! The water was right beneath us, and we watched the river traffic from our "living room" while enjoying a lovely fire. The Inn was centally located and the dinner recommendation ( the S & P Oyster House) was supurb! This was definitely our favorite bed and breakfast in New England!

My husband and I were to stay at the Steamboat Inn in February of 2005 and had invited his parents to come with us. Sadly, my husband's dad died just prior to our travel. The Inn was very gracious and didn't charge us a thing. We're looking forward to going in September. Lovely place.

I would like to respond to the review below. This is a completely false review. We have a strict 5 day cancellation policy which can be found on our website. This guest did call on Friday night and said that they were not going to make it until Saturday the next day. We said that was not a problem due to the weather. The guest then proceeded to not show up or call on Saturday. The roads had been cleared and we had 3 other couples staying at the Inn that weekend from New Jersey and they all made it safely to the Inn with out a problem. This guest then called and wanted a refund. The guest did not ask to reschedule and the owner was very nice and explained that we had other guests from New Jersey that made it. The owner did not hang up on this guest. We have been in business for 20 years and we have a very respectable reputation. I am a repeat customer at Steamboat Inn. This year, I booked a room but got very sick and could not go. I called to cancel 3 days in advance, and was told that their cancellation policy requires at least 5 days. I got no refund, and the owners refused to even let me rebook for another date or give me discount towards next stay. Very unfair and a bad way to do business, especially for a luxury boutique hotel! The "deposit" they charged me was full rate for the stay.

nice room and great view. thought that the staff was a bit condescending (as was the couple we met at breakfast). overall liked the inn itself, but not recommended for young couples.

Cozy, homey yet elegant. The staff made us welcome and taken care of. Diana is delightful-- and wow what a continental breakfast with fresh baked goodies. Would return in a heartbeat.

Can't say enough about the place but the Mystic Suite (no.2) on the second floor has the best views (the smallest whirlpool bath:-(( but awesome fireplace and very low ceilings. You literaly have to climb up the bed but when you wake up in the morning to open shades(highly recommended) you realize that you just got the best seat in the theater. You get to see the sunrise over the bay with yachts in the background and you immediately get a great mood. The fireplace was amazing too and the charm is New England is guaranteed. Watch you for the low ceiling over the bed though: my wife decided to check bed by jumping on it and she immediately hit her head on the ceiling. Other than that great value for your hard earned $$. Mention that you're on honeymoon to get discount. Btw, much cheaper than Greenwich, CT and you get to feel real NEW ENGLAND. Highly Recommend.
