Any updates?

We are thinking of going here this summer. Wondering if there are any updates given the last review was given 3 years ago. Wondering if it is better or worse.

Very nice, memories for a life time.
By ,
This is a great place for kids to play baseball like the pro's. 2 1/2/ million dollar fields, manicured grass, umpires in full professional gear, induction into the hall of fame. All kids that visit here will be telling thier grand kids stories over and over. However, it would appear that their love for money surpasses their love for kids. Its more about putting money in their pockets than the kids. The ring the kids get is of poor quality, the Hall of Fame show is used with very old equipment, buying anything online after you leave is not possible. The promises they give are not what really happens. Where is the Hall of Fame for kids building that was to be built buy now? Where is the online Hall of Fame you are promised to be a part of (team picture)? Where is the online store you are promised access to. They said only certain things could be ordered online. I have called on the phone and directly talked to them about ordering more souveniers, a year ago, they said the online store would be up in thirty days, over a year and no store. IT WAS AMAZING FOR THE KIDS. I would read reviews for all Cooperstown tournaments villages or Parks. It might be worth it to play on less quality fields, but get a much more professional attitude. I would not go back here, I would go back to Cooperstown though, I would do more research on the other parks first. Michigan

A great experience for 12 year old ballplayers !
By ,
CASV was a great week for us. While there are a few minor negatives (try keeping a bathroom used by 300 twelve year old boys clean all the time). The positives FAR outweighed them. The fields are fantastic, the staff makes every effort to create a great experience, and the bond that a team forges in a week here is unbeatable. Twelve of thirteen families also attended for the week, and every one of them was happy that they went. Be aware that you are not in Cooperstown- it is about 30 minutes to the north. Oneonta is a very nice town however with good lodging alternatives if you search for them, and the half hour drive to Cooperstown is a beautiful one. Everyone I talked to that had been at both Dreams Park & CASV, while they endorsed Dreams Park as an excellent experience, said that CASV was superior. The fact that there was "only" 24 teams allowed our kids to forge some relationships as we saw the other teams more often. The on site restaurant was heartily endorsed by all of the parents, and while the kids and coach's food was not exactly gourmet, it was fine. The opening & closing ceremonies are memorable. All in all a wonderful week.

Great experience!
By ,
While it's been over a year since our team went to All Star Village, we can't stop talking about it-kids as well as parents. Out of the 13 kids on our team, only 1 family stayed off site. The rest of us rented rooms at the All Star Village Hotel. To say we had a great time is an understatement. While we were a close knit "family" before the trip, the experience of all of us being together for a week, eating meals together, walking to games together, shopping, going to Cooperstown, and hanging out at night in the tent just made us that much closer. We truly had a fantastic time. As far as the accommodations go, the rooms are decent, however they are not cleaned on a daily basis and the beds were rarely made. The on site restaurant was very good, particularly the appetizers. We ate there several times. There are plenty of convenience stores within a couple of minutes drive. Dunkin' Donuts, CVS, etc. There is a restaurant called Brooks' House of BBQ that you must try! The coaches wives rented an "apartment" in the ASV hotel and we cooked a couple of nights which was alot of fun, having all the boys come up for dinner. If you are going to All Star Village, I suggest you get all of your teammates families to stay here if possible. It will be a great bonding experience not to mention the convenience of not having to drive to games, sometimes 2 in a day. My youngest son is 9 and he's also on a travel team. We're already making plans for 2011!

Great Week of Baseball
By ,
Our son played at All Star Village at the end of July.Great staff.Fields were excellent. Bunkhouses were spartan but clean. Food provided for the teams was acceptable. Some small tips would be that the it is okay for the team to have water and gatorade available without having to buy from ASV. Fans were also allowed to bring in 1 drink at a time. Very lax on the no food or drink policy as long as you were not trying to bring in a coolers.concession stand and gift shop prices were reasonably priced. Our time actually had drinks in coolers in the bunkhouse and had no problems w/ASV about this. The rest of the family stayed at Christophers Country Lodge. While price was on the high side, the accomdations were very acceptable. Room was small but clean and modern. The food at the restaurant was good and the staff friendly. The Lodge is located on a major road so other restaurants, supermarket, etc were a short distance away. While we normally would prefer a chain hotel, we would not hesitate to return to Christophers. Their other establishment, Sabatini's was also good and reasonably priced Italian dinner. ASV is approx 30 minutes from Cooperstown itself. Bottom line is that this was the best experience my son had playing baseball. The complex is small enough that the teams can actually get to know each other if they so desire. Highly recommend ASV for those looking for a great tournament experience. Not cheap but worth every penny.

The Best Value Around
By ,
It's too bad that someone can write an article about any place that does not provide them with a product or service. Any way I'm sure there is two sides to the story about the alleged wedding incident. Our experience with Cooperstown was complimented by the service, accomodations and value we got at Christophers and Sabatinis. We had to book both hotels and we received clean rooms and great value. Both hotels also have restaurants that rival any great dining experience we have had anywhere. My suggestion to those who read these reviews would be that the facts of acually experiencing the accomodations speak for themselves.Book early thats my suggestion you won't be dissapointed.

Amazing Baseball Experience!
By ,
We are just back from 1 week at Cooperstown All Star Village with our 12 year old baseball team. This is the best experience we have ever had in 3 years as a travel team. The tournament is well run, the fields are perfection, the dorms are spotless and the whole atmosphere is perfect for families that LOVE baseball. CASV is located about 25 minutes south of Cooperstown. There are 2 other baseball camps in the area, and we ran into several families that were playing at the other camps. All were envious of CASV and the beautiful setting, smaller tournament size, great service, attention to detail and the quality of baseball! Dreams Park is huge, lacks character and was very crowded. Baseball world was spreadout, had zero character and left families feeling lost and without a sense of fun. We were always well taken care of at CASV. The boys loved the food and dorms (with air conditioning). They had their own private pool and game room. I supposed it helped to have a winning record of 8-1 and come in 3rd place. Regardless we were pleasantly surprised by our experience and would return next year if we could find some younger players!! I highly recommend CASV!

What a place to stay!!
By ,
We stayed at Christopher's Restaurant & Country Lodge before. Our rooms were handled through their office, which is also for the Cooperstown All Star Village. We had great rooms that were clean. The front desk staff and the manager were extremely friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this hotel even if some others have had a bad experience.
