A Victory Hotel Southfield, Southfield

We stayed at this hotel because we wanted somewhere affordable to crash after a Red Wings game. Needless to say, we didn't even get to "crash." We got back to the hotel at about 10:30pm and immediately began hearing the yelling outside, which continued all night until we decided to leave. We didn't feel safe due to a huge fight that broke out right outside our door. One of the windows to a room down the hall was smashed during this fight and glass was everywhere. We called the front desk and the guy told us he called the police and they should be there shortly. When the police got there, everyone took off running, but came back shortly after the police had left and the yelling and fighting still continued. The guy at the front desk told us he would not refund us, but we could leave whenever we wanted, as if that were some kind of consolation. We left at 3am and proceeded to drive 3 hours back home to Grand Rapids. We would have felt safer leaving our belongings in the car in the parking garage at the arena and sleeping at a rest stop. We were even afraid to leave our hotel room because this was all going on right outside. Check reviews on other sites as well, it looks like others have had similar experiences. DON'T stay here. Especially if you have kids. Or if you don't own a gun.

Stayed here in February and was really impressed with the exotic decor of the rooms and they offered a very nice free breakfast in the morning. You get a lot of bang for your buck and for a hotel in the middle of the city it was very clean and quiet too.
