Comfort Inn New Cumberland, New Cumberland

Had to cancel my reservation for an emergency, car broke down on the way, I made the call to cancel and was told I was too late. Desk person told me to call the manager the next day. Well it took 4 days to finally talk to him. He said that I had to cancel within 24 hrs my reciept said by 4 pm. How can you cancel within 24 hrs if something happens on the way there. He wanted me to send a copy of my bill to confirm that I had car trouble! We are having a family wedding near by in the future will need a block of 10 rooms, well guess what it won't be at this place!

It was so very hot at 10:30pm when we checked in (June 2011). 88 degrees! The girl at the desk (who was nice) was embarrassed and apologized and said the owner wouldn't use AC. Our room was 80 degrees and took hours to get down to 76 degrees. We'd been driving all day, and it was too late and we were too tired to get another hotel, tho we should have. I've always enjoyed Comfort Inns in the past. What's with this owner where he's too cheap so we're very uncomfortable???

Should have believed the poor reviews. Had been there 3 years ago and liked the place. It's a dump now. Of the 5 rooms my friends and I had, one was satisfied; one rolled their eyes in disgust; the third had a child who could not sit on the desk chair because it was so filthy - and their room was not cleaned one of the days they were staying there (the desk lady said many rooms were not cleaned that day!); the 4th was put in a room that looked like a storage room with busted lamps/lampshades, stubs of hair around the bathroom sink, no decorations whatsoever on the walls (absolutely disgusting) and they had booked their reservation over a month in advance and called to say they would be arriving late so plaese save their room - however the guy at the desk admitted he gave their room to someone else and they landed in the storage room; the fifth, although they had a reservation for a non-smoking room and close to an elevator because one of the occupants has difficulty walking the stairs, was put in a first floor smoking room that stunk - ultimately they were moved to a different room where the air conditioner either did not work at all - or when it did, it sounded like a mack truck coming through the room. According to the motel maintenace crew, this was OK. I will have many occasions to come to the New Cumberland area, but I will NEVER stay here again.

I should have read the reviews before going there. It reminds me why I am no longer a Choice hotels member. Hampton hotels are about the same price, and they treat their guests well, and the rooms are CLEAN. This hotel has lots of rooms, and only had 5 cars in the parking lot. Now I know why . . .

After reading the bad comments made by people who stayed there last summer I thought I must have stayed at a different place. Since August, somebody got their act together. I was well-satisfied with the motel when I stayed there in February. We had two rooms, both non-smoking. One of the rooms had a problem with the heater. It began blowing cold air after about 10 minutes, but we were able to switch rooms immediately. The other room was fine. Clean, quiet. The staff was very helpful. We needed to find some place to get sandwiches early in the morning. They printed out very good directions to a 24-hour grocery. They also had print outs for directions to the other places we needed to get to. The night desk guy had good recommendations for places to eat. It's nothing fancy, but it suited my needs. I'm planning to stay there again when I have to go to Hburg on business in April.

Nice clean place at affordable price. Great breakfast & Free High speed internet was excellent and all the ameneties like microwave, fridge, tv with vcr etc

After reading the other reviews on this place, I can see why they had rooms available on a Saturday night. We requested non-smoking and the room reeked of smoke. I thought I could overlook that since my kids were exhausted and fell into bed. Then I discovered that the ice bucket had someone's melted ice, i.e., never cleaned out. Then I discovered that my bed had never been made from the previous occupant. Then I discovered that the carpet was soaking wet from God-knows-what. Not wanting to move my sleeping children I tolerated it, but I will never stay in this place again.

The staff very rude , we couldn't check in until 3:00 pm which was very hard for us sine we had come from 3 states away & we were tired , we had never had a problem checking in early anywhere else before . So we waited and went back at the check in , we got our rooms and they were so gross . They were so dirty .
