NOISY, like being at a truck stop
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/10
Yes the rooms were clean, but there were lots of housekeeping issues around the property. Rooms facing the valley are VERY noisy...felt like being at a truck stop with all the large trailer trucks going by all night. Unable to sleep with windows open. Did not travel with kids but felt bad for those who did...owners seem to cater to couples without. Not kid friendly.

Great Place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/10
For my second stay in the area I picked The Lodge over the other local hotels on a recommendation from a friend. I was overwhelmed by the peaceful atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and cleanliness and classy furnishings of the rooms. The location is a perfect launch point for numerous natural points of interest and ski resorts and we had no shortage of things to do. After a long day of hiking, seeing the sites and checking out the local night life it was so nice to come back and relax in such a great environment.

Needs Maintenance
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/10
I was disappointed with The Lodge and can't understand all the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Suspicious. Peeling paint, broken outdoor furniture, missing tiles in pool. Pins on bedskirts to hold them on, overgrown grass, power tools left about. Rooms were clean, but our tub did not drain...even after 10 hours...Staff did not seem to care. Not an ideal place for small children...made to feel unwelcome.

Best cookies!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/2/10
At first I was put off that The Lodge doesn’t accept AAA. That was strike one. Then I found out that they no longer have an outdoor hot tub. I had been looking forward to it so that was strike two. Then forecast for the next 2 days was rain, so as far as I was concerned, that was strike 3 and I was not a happy camper. But the Lodge practices what they call Mountain Hospitality, and after I’d been there less than an hour, it had started working on me. Maybe it was the personal welcome note from the owners in a very clean and nicely furnished room, or getting a call from the front desk to tell me that if I didn’t already have dinner plans, that they could make a reservation for me. Or maybe it was the warm double chocolate chip cookies that had just come out of the oven as I went through the lobby. Whatever it was, the longer I was there the happier I got until I did not want to go home at all. The Lodge worked its magic on me and I want to go back again soon.

Wonderful hotel, beautiful area-reccomended!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/1/10
The lodge is a beautiful hotel with a huge amount of character, and has a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The staff are all very friendly and will do all they can to help and advise on local activities and outings - which there are plenty of! I had a really enjoyable stay and it was definately worth the money, I would reccomend it to anyone thinking about visiting the area and will definately be going back.

A place that cares!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/10
Late one night I had a flat tire on Route 16. I had seen a moose and swerved so as not to hit it, but I hit a rock and blew out my tire. I started walking hoping to find a gas station open at that hour but what I found instead was The Lodge, which turned out to be even better. The owners were still there even though it was late at night and offered to drive me back to my car to get my stuff. They gave me a very comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast in the morning and even called the service station the next door to arrange for a tow and a fix for my flat. I couldn’t have gotten better service if I had been staying with family. This is the type of establishment that deserves public patronage because they do a really good job and they really care, which is a rare thing in today’s world.

Staying at the Lodge is like staying with friends!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/10
I discovered The Lodge at Jackson Village quite by accident through a blog on the Mary Jane’s Farm website. I live in Vermont and the Mountain Farmgirl blogger owns The Lodge in NH so you could say that we are sort of neighbors. I follow her posts on MJF as well as her blogs on the Lodge website. Through reading them I decided we have a lot in common so I wanted to meet her and stay overnight at her lodge. My sister and I decided to make a reservation. We came midweek and were delighted with our stay. Not only were we warmly welcomed and treated graciously, but we had one of the pleasantest stays we’ve ever had at an inn. The Lodge is very clean with a lot of homey touches such as patchwork quilts, interesting photos and artwork and delicious homemade muffins and other treats (including some of the best oatmeal raisin cookies you’ll ever eat, warm from the oven). My sister and I give this inn a two thumbs up. I think you will enjoy your stay as much as we did.

They have a Jay Shafer Tiny House!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/10
I didn’t expect to stay overnight anywhere, we were driving back to Boston after a long hike up Mount Washington when we passed the Lodge. What first caught our eye was the Fencl tiny house in the lot. I did a quick u-turn and ended up taking a tour. I love Tumbleweed and have been following them for years. We ended up talking with the owners for quite a while and decided to have dinner across the street before heading home. By the time we finished (a great meal at the Thompson House Eatery by the way), we were walking back to our car and the moon was coming up over the cliff. Neither of us felt like a long drive at that point and the Lodge looked so inviting that we ended up staying. It was a spur of the moment decision that was perfectly serendipitous and a great end to the weekend. When we venture north again, we will definitely plan to stay here. We may even rent the Fencl!
