Blue Iris Motor Inn, Rumford

We were in town for a funeral in September, 2008 and were very happy to find this place. The owners are wonderful and friendly. We stayed in the room with a kitchen and loved it. Unfortunately, we are about to plan another stay for another family funeral. It's about as comfortable as any bed that isn't your own, can be. The kitchen was handy. If we ever get to go back for something other than a funeral, we'll probably stay here again.

My family stayed here while we were in Rumford for a gymnastics meet. We had a very pleasant stay. The woman at the counter was very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The view of the river and mountains behind the motel was very nice. All the other people from our team stayed somewhere else and they were all complaining about their motel. I won't mention the name of that motel because I was not there, but here are some of the complaints they had. One room was very hot and they had to keep getting out of bed to open the door to let some cool air in. One of the bathtubs did not drain. The person working the night shift was yelling at their kids.

We have family that live in Maine and we travel there, from Indiana, about 3 times a year. We found the Blue Iris 2 years ago and wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else now. The owners are wonderful people and their Hotel is the best! It's the most comfortable,and cleanest, place we have found to stay. It has become our home away from home. :-) Would recommend it to anyone going through this part of Maine. (we will be going back next week!)

Few sites are prettier than the Western Mountains of Maine, and the Blue Iris Motor Inn is a great place to stay in this area. I have always been pleased with the clean, comfortable rooms and relaxing surroundings at this motel. Nearby activities range from wonderful hikes and skiing to quaint shops and restaurants. I recommend that anyone looking to experience Maine on an affordable trip should check out this area and particularly the Blue Iris Motor Inn.
