Travelodge Rapid City, Rapid City

We booked hotel on last minute decision, and it was best decision ever. We stayed in the jacuzzi suite which accomodated us nicely and the price was less than staying at a different hotel but in a regular room. Will definately be going back

Well, first off we made the mistake of attempting to stay in Rapid City on the Thursday evening before the Sturgis Rally. Second, we made the mistake of using Priceline to try to find a room, less than four months out. Priceline stuck us with the America's Best "Value" Inn (we have another review for THAT hotel), but the best thing that pack of liars did for us was place us at the Dakota Pines Inn. Taj took care of us, in spite of the other hotel lying to him about our circumstances, and got us settled in at his hotel at the height of the busiest time of the year on VERY short notice. Just for that, this hotel deserves a 5 star rating. But, the location of the hotel (within walking distance of 6 restaurants, a Wal-Mart, and a miniature golf course that the kids LOVED!), and the complimentary (and FRESH!) continental breakfast, and it completely removed the horrible experience with the other hotel from our minds. Thanks again, Dakota Pines! We will definitely becoming back again for a return visit. And this time, it won't be the weekend before Sturgis. :)

I did not stay at the hotel but i did make a reservation and need to cancel as a family emergency came up..the gentlemen that took my reservation was absolutly wonderful. I was very impressed!!! I would definitly stay at this hotel just by the service i recieved over the telephone.

i would say this hotel is so good there service are good. the front desk people are so helpful. its a very quite and clean. its perfect for a good vacation.

i love the atmosphere and the owners are so blessed to be around. i love the home like feelings when i arrive and check out. i believe in keep going back time after time. i love it and reccomend to all travelers from abroad and near.. i cant dislike this place because everything is great.Thank you folks Jase

I can quite honestly say the Thunderbird is one of the most friendly hotels that my family has had the pleasure to stop at. We were made so welcome by the manager and all the staff made us really feel as if we were at home. nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them in helping us find the best places to visit. The rooms were exceptionally clean and tidy. and also we remarked how quiet it was, which is a bonus when you have had a busy day site seeing..so all I will add is go to the THUNDERBIRD and you will not be dissapointed.. The location was good for activities inside Rapid City, there are better locations for seeing Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills. Our family went to the evening show at Mount Rushmore (a must see) when we returned the air conditioner that we left on high had quit working! A telephone call to the front desk and they told us that the thermostat setting was the reason it shut down. We turned it back on and it ran for 15 minutes before turning off again and never restarting. Our room was very warm the rest of the night with just the fan running. I talked with the front desk in the morning and they had no sympathy or " I am sorry's " until the front desk clerk asked me what she could do! I told her that this would be my last stay at a Thunderbird lodge and I will tell all my friends to avoid the motels in Mitchell and Rapid City! I talked with the repair man in the morning he said it would have worked fine if I would have it on low? Good advice but 12 hours to late. PS: The beds are wore out also!

Friendly and helpful staff. Room in great condition and always clean, very comfortable and quiet except for some noise from the local traffic. No problems at all. Enjoyed the indoor pool every night. First time I have stayed at an independent motel chain instead of a big name chain. would stay at again and recommend.
