You Don't Get What You Pay For
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/09
Where to start with this Roach Motel? Everything you read negative up top is true. This is the first time I've run across a hotel where they charge 25 cents for ice. Next they DO have wireless internet but guess what when you call them and ask for the passcode from their own room phone they make you physically go down and get it from them and to top it off when I went down to the front desk with the room key they ask for the key and scan it to make sure that you are really a current guest and not someone who kept the key from a previous visit? This after I only checked in 1/2 hour before. You'd think they'd remember your face considering this place only has 20 rooms 10 top 10 bottom. The room got extremely stuffy because there is NO air conditioning and they have a little mini fridge that was NOT plugged in and when we plugged it in for the night it didn't work ;-( They keep this place in tip top shape I tell you!! We only spent a night thank God but woke up with a rash and itchiness from something in the sheets, it would not surprise me if they did not change it between guests Ugghh. The rooms are ok 19 inch tube tv, no fridge, no microwave. By the way if they didn't give you a AAA discount then they are lying. We booked on hotels.com and was informed on the hotels.com we'd get a discount and when we showed up NO discount! This was the ultimate sham and get this when you book on hotel they keep your reservation but you pay when you show up so it's COD. What this effective does is does not allow you to get any kind of email confirmation from hotels.com even though at the time of booking you got a confirmation that it had been reserved for you but only virtually on the hotels.com site. This trickery of theirs also does not allow you to RATE their hotel once you've stayed there beccause you never get a confirmation email! I have to say their teaser rate on hotels.com was the cheapest but there's hidden charges guys. . Watch out when you go there they'll tack on travel service charges, etc. We did not know and booked it and learned the hard way but hey when you've driven 300 miles and it's the end of the day you're stuck like we were. You've been forewarned stay here at your own discomfort!

BAIT & SWITCH - DON'T EVEN CONSIDER
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/09
Had driven all day and wanted to stay close to the bay and shopping area. From outside it looked maintained and quaint. I booked the room and thought it was odd she was writing down all my information from my driver's license. We had stayed at several other chains and never had that experience. We entered the room and it was like walking back into the 70's. It was clean but very outdated. We decided to turn on the TV while unloading. I was old and couldn't get the remote to work. That was our first indication. We then looked around and found the small refrigerator was at least 30 years old and we no air conditioner. The bathroom ceiling was cracked and patched but left unpainted. The water was yellow and smelled. We opened the window but our neighbor was a smoker and it kept drifting into our room. The bathroom window opened up to a garbage dumpster! We hadn't even unpacked and loaded our stuff back in the car. When I went to the office, and told her the room was unacceptable, she said it was non-refundable. I stated there was no way this was a $100 night room and should be around $45-$50 at the most. We drove down the road to San Luis Obispo and stayed at a Best Western which was well worth the $100. Looks nice on the outside but would never recommend. Have never disputed a hotel bill before but will definitely dispute this one.

Won't go back
By Leah, 07/15/07
The price of $79 was good but the room was not great. When we first got there I thought it would be good. The location is with in walking distance to the Embarcadero and the room was fairly large. But there was no air conditioner so it was a little stuffy and had a strange smell about it. We did not get back to the room until about 9:30 pm and when we pulled the beds back to go to sleep the box springs had horrible stains on them...like someone had thrown up and they were not cleaned up. So after seeing that it kind of creeped me out and i started thinking if they left something so obviously dirty how well was everything else cleaned, probably not very well. I will not go back I will just return to my old stand by of Motel 6 or try the new motel next door to Motel 6! And this hotel does not accept pets.

Great for the price......
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/06
The room smelled and looked clean. The reservation was exactly as we wanted. The place was very quiet. It is right across the street from a local hangout called The Hungry Fisherman. The only complaint I would have about it was that ICE was 25 cents. But no big deal. Well worth the $48 a night in april we paid.....
