Hartwood Inn, Charles City

Today is 11/14/11. My father (who has been trying to kick a cold for the last week while working in Charles City) just called me to tell me that the owners refuse to turn the heat on because there is no danger of the pipes freezing; as yesterday temps were in the 50's and will be again today. The rooms do not have individual heating units, but have boiler stations. People are not pipes and need heat. Temperatures reached 36 degrees last night and when my dad called; i could hardly recognize his voice. I am livid and will be spending my lunch break researching Iowa hotel law and contacting whatever Floyd county regulatory officials seem relevant. From my father's (a seasoned business traveler) complaints about this hotel, I would say that if you are looking to overpay for a third-world experience; the Hartwood Inn is your best bet.
