The Herrington Inn And Spa, Geneva

I am not sure where all the people stayed with the negative comments, this place was amazing! The staff was amazingly polite and seemed to have a vast amount of experience in the hospitality field. I don't understand how some people say they almost go into fights with the staff, the staff was very well mannered and the only way I could see anyone fighting with them is if the guest themselves where yelling and causing a huge fuss, most likely is a fuss over nothing. This place was great, the food was great, the rooms were amazing. I would tell all my friends to come and stay here. And to all those who had such a "horrible" stay, thanks for hopefully not going back there and leaving an extra room open for people who can actually enjoy themselves on vacation!

I stayed at the Herrington last weekend and was recovering from a broken foot. I just wanted a quiet place to relax and recuperate. I thought that I had brought everything I needed with me, but when my foot began to throb, I called down to ask for an extra footstool. The staff could not find one and called to tell me. And then, a few minutes later, the bellman brought me 3 extra pillow to prop my foot on! The service was perfect from all areas. I had room service and again, was treated like a queen by the waitress. My bed was so comfortable that I did not want to leave! I will return as often as I can. My experience at this hotel was better than any of the Four Seasons hotels I have stayed in. Who cares about me? The Herrington does!

Sure the rooms are beautiful and the setting is picturesque, but what makes this place special is the personal touches the staff provide. My wife and I have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels throughout the world and the staff at the Herrington are as attentive and proactive as I have ever experienced. Nothing was a problem to them even when we realized that we had made a mistake with our reservation the front desk clerk was obviously well trained and made us feel special. We look forward to returning for a longer stay next time.

My 2 sisters & I stayed at The Herrington this last weekend. We loved it. The service was fantastic. Our room spotless and the beds, oh so comfortable. The breakfast in the restarant was excellent. The grounds were well maintained and very pretty. Loved the location. The only slight negative I would comment on would be the balcanies (I would recommend they get the spider webs down and take care of any wasp nests each time the rooms are cleaned). We would diffinitly return.

Went to have breakfast and check things out. What a wonderful experience. Our breakfast was very good and the price could not be beat. Asked if we could see a room the staff is very helpful, showed us the hotel very friendly. The rooms are romance and luxury at it's best. Going back at Christmas to stay a couple of days. Can't wait!

I've read the other comments here and have to wonder if the people who experienced rude behavior stayed at the same hotel I stayed at! Although our reservation was messed up by the bride who made it for us, the staff was very nice and tried everything they could to accommodate us. They were far from rude, but I guess if we had been rude to them, that may have changed things! The room was beautiful and we had such a nice time at the wedding, we stayed an extra night (at a discount!) and enjoyed the spa and dinner in Atwater's on Sunday. We had an amazing experience, and I just wanted to share!

My wife & I stayed here this past weekend. The decor was nice but that was all the place had going for it. The service was atrocious. It seemed like the place was run by a bunch of kids with no adult supervision. There was a definite lack of attention to detail. The prices were way too high for what we got. We avoided the restaurant because we overheard some of the equally dissatisfied guests complaining about the food. Oh yeah, the lobby was also jammed with wedding guests when we tried to check in. It felt like we had to run through a gauntlet just to get to our room. Do yourself a favor, go someplace else.

We were simply amazed at how rude the entire staff was to us. Almost got into a brawl with a couple of the punks there. Stay away, very far away.

We experienced rude staff at the front desk. This might not seem important to a stay but they had incorrectly put my friend and I in a room with a single bed. We had reserved a two-bed room. When we explained this, the young man at front desk simply told us we had made a mistake and were out of luck. We had proof of room reservation faxed to them and they allowed us to move to another room but stipulated we would have to move to a different room with a single bed on the following night. So much for relaxation. His attitude was very difficult. In fact, we came home to the room that afternoon and found that our lock had been changed requiring us to spend another half an hour returning to the rude front dest and having our key reassigned. Really unpleasant though rooms are nice and view is quaint. Management seems to be lacking. Facials can be a bit harsh, begging the question of how well trained the staff is in general.

I called today just to get info on a trip that I am planning. I called twice and couldn't believe how rude the staff was. One gentleman in particular. It seems when I had inquired about any upgrade dates or specials, he became very short and tried to hurry my questions along. I felt embarrassed and insulted. I guess the only people that can stay at this hotel are the kind that don't ask prices!!! Disappointed in Chicago
