Do not be fooled by $$'s

Hey. I have lived in RO or travelled there for the last 15 years. During a recent trip, I gave the Sofi a shot. Worst time ever. You see the qouted rate? Double it. Fees and things you take for granted aand free, are dutyfully logged and presented to you at check out. My $90 a night room was $440 for 2 nights. I ordered room service 1 time. I 'tried' to call a cell number without connection.
Secondly....There is the room. It has modern plumbing. The bathroom is nice. But it has 'Romanian' beds. Mattresses stuffed with straw. Not a DreamBed.....
Lastly...I want to encourage you. Seek out pure Romnian hotels. They are on alleys and out of the way places, but they treat you like royalty... for example, any none corporatione pure RO hotel. I stayed at one and went back to it during another trip. A suite was $50. A living room with all leather sofas and easy chairs, Cable tv, Bathroom. A bedroom w/ a King bed and bathroom. A patio. It is in a wierd local (old banking, minstry 'alleyway'...you can spit on the building across the way) But, the staff knew our preferences each morning. Knew when to just approach us in the lounge with G&T's, without a request.
Be careful in selecting a place...be frugal. Eat local foods. drink bottled water.
