Things DISAPPEARED!!!
By ,
We stayed at the Mason Beach Inn from Aug 9-12, 2011. We chose this place due to the quiet area, central location, and within walking distance to just about everything. However, it’s a bit pricy for one bed. The bed was a standard king bed with awful pillows, refrigerator and microwave. The room was ok in size, clean, with a table and 2 chairs; a desk with chair and coffee maker. The AC/cooler was noisy and only had one temperature. It would take a very long time before it kicked in again. I didn’t matter if one turned it off and on; it remained off until after two or three hours. The free continental breakfast it is just a snack, it is not a real breakfast (coffee, OJ, milk, 2 kinds of cereals, bread, muffins and croissants). The front desk people were ok. Other than that it was an ok stay. However, a huge concern here, things DISAPPEARED!!….. Do NOT leave expensive perfumes or any other expensive item in the room. The two young cleaning gals seemed to be onto everything and go through everything in your luggage!! I made the mistake of forgetting my Chanel perfume, more than half full bottle, in the room and it DISAPPEARED the FIRST day I left the hotel (everything else that was expensive –camera, video camera, lap top, psp games, etc – we took with us every time we left the hotel). The next day I kept looking for my perfume in my bags, luggage, car, etc., but it did not turn up anywhere. I also checked the room and every possible place I might have place it but nothing. I was not pleased at all and it was extremely disappointing!! As soon as I got back home, I looked for the perfume everywhere in my house. I was still giving the Mason Inn employees the benefit of the doubt……To this day, I still cannot find my perfume. I have one word for those maids, “Karma.”

Scariest Hotel Experience Ever
By ,
I stayed at the Mason Beach Inn in July. The hotel's location is great. Unfortunately, the night clerk, during out stay was extremely rude and nasty to my family and I. The 1st night we were there my toliet overflowed, the night clerk told me to "plunge it myself because he was busy". The next night the maids took all the towels out of my room but didn't clean it. I called the desk and this same person started yelling at me about what I had done with all of my towels. The last night I was trying to find a place to dry wet bathing suits, this same clerk told me to take a taxi to a laundromat 4 miles away. I called a nearby hotel to who directed me to the hotel next door which had coin operated laundry. The manager at this hotel remarked that my manager knew there was a laundry facility next door. I did not feel safe at this hotel because of this clerks attitude. I paid my bill and left quitely the next morning. The breakfast every day was very meager, the bagels tasted stale. I would not stay at this hotel again, the staff was rude, the room wasn't particulary clean and my toliet overflowing was disgusting.

Great place to stay

Loved how close this place was to everything! We could easily walk to where ever we were wanting to go, or it was a short drive to those places as well. We ended up staying 2 extra nights.

location was perfect
By ,
The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

Over Priced
By ,
The only good thing was the location. The rooms need to be updated and they were not very clean. For the price they are charging I expected more. I would not stay here again.

relaxing vacation
By ,
Loved how quiet and quaint this hotel is. Walking distance to great restaurants and the beach. Wireless access, small friendly pool, nice people on a quiet street off main street. Santa Barbara at its best.

Love this place
By ,
Staff was so sweet, it was like staying with family. Stayed 9 days over New Year's last year and going again this year. Fresh fruit bowl in lobby was a nice touch. We are a family and it was never noisy or chaotic. Checked prices and availability for a stay in July this year and had to opt for another hotel in town. But that was high season, so now we know.

Don't stay here!
Although the hotel was convienently located near the beach and about 20 minutes walking distance from State street shops & restaurants, I would not recommend this hotel. It is extremely noisy! You hear every footstep, water running in adjacent rooms, doors slamming, etc. We had one of our bikes stolen from the hotel parking lot (even though the bike was locked) and when we went to report the incident, the young man at the desk was of no assistance.
