Grand Country Inn, Branson

This place was awful right fron the beginning. We got there and because the place has so many buildings you have to try to figure out where to check because there weren't any signs. We arrived at about 2:15 and they said our room wasn't ready but they were happy to take our money in the meantime. We couldn't hardly understan on person behind the counter. They were all from other countries. While we were waiting for an hour for our rooms, I asked about a fridge and they said that it would be $11 for the entire stay which was outragous. Finally at exactly 3pm we asked for the third time and finally after making 2 calls our room was ready. Our room wasn't in a bad place, it was close to everything but the housekeeping staff was just leaving it. It was really weird that we got actual keys instead of the card which would be so much easier to take to the waterpark. We went the first night to the small waterpark. My kids had fun. The lazy river was alright. The intertubes were kinda small. But the line was so long for the one big slide that my 5 year old couldn't even ride it. Our room wasn't what I expected. Everything was outdated. There was a HUGE crack all around the door to the outside and if the ac wasn't on it was too hot. The tv was small and the paint was peeling all over. The shower had good water pressure, but there were silver scratch marks in the toilet and bathtub. The second day we went to the regular indoor pool which wasn't too bad, it was way less crowded. When we got back to the room our key wouldn't work. My husband and I tried the key at least 10 times before I finally went down to the lobby to get help. Finally he got the door opened. We never did go back to the waterpark. We went to the buffet for breakfast and that was okay, and we went and saw two shows. We saw Grand Jubilee and that was okay but it ran kinda late for the kids so we had to leave early and the Amazing Animal show was cute, but we left at the intermission because it was so long that the kids got bored. The pizza was good and when we went to pick one up on Saturday they said that they could deliver for free to guest rooms and when I called on Sunday they told me they had no one to deliver and got off the phone so fast I couldn't pre-order. Overall the whole trip was a hastle. We could have stayed somewhere else with an indoor pool for cheaper and better service. The whole trip was stressful from beginning to end. We will definately not go back ever. Take my advice and skip it.

Likes: Water park was great for the kids. Staff/lifeguards were courteous and attentive, towels were provided free, and lockers and a snack bar were available. Dislikes: Rooms were overpriced. Building we stayed in was old, and looked it. Cracks and crevices abound, daylight was visible all around the door. Key locks on doors instead of cards, maintenance had to open the door since key initially would not work. No elevator, and desk attendants at 4:00 pm bordered on rude. Would not stay again.

There is a divide at Grand Country, like any other place. Reviews here are based on expectations and "luck" to some degree. Some of the staff are "older native" types and are friendly, but many are "young foreign" types and less friendly, so who you interact with more often will decide. Yes, the sdvertising is overblown, as with everything in Branson. The rooms have big 'gaps' under the outward facing doors. There are bugs. You don't have a fridge or microwave [fridge by request + $10] and you DO need to bring a FAN for "cover noise" for a good sleep. The rooms aren't gross...just "water park" used and simple. The WATER PARK ain't that big. The water makes eyes burn. It isn't heated. It isn't well policed, so the 'public' gets in. NO buildings are "near" enough to the water park to matter. The buffet is great, but ALL the food will make you sick. Lotsa bugs n bacteria. No biggy, just plan to eat healty via Walmart & frig [parents] at least most of each day. Don't spend 3 meals at the buffet. DEALS? No, not really. Go to Grand Country with expections of a cheap hotel, with cool game room, neat water park, and decent food. Shows are OK and we enjoyed "Amazing Animals". Coupons found locally can match any DEALS being offered for your stay, so don't go to Grand Country Inn with expectations you got a great "package", since they base those savings off FULL price, which nobody except foreign tourists actually pay. IN SUMMARY: Grand Country is not amazing, but if you have young kids [2-12] and want an inclusive area to hang out with reasonable priced activities, food, and shows then it is OK. The price is comparible to anything else in Branson. No better or worse I imagine. Warning: Your kids will get bored with Water Park quickly and you will end up at the FUN SPOT [game room] eventually, so prepare to spend $10 per kid on credits for games, but the pizza is good. We found that "ACTIVITY" [of any kind] in Branson costs about $10 per person per hour average, unless you are just walking and looking.

Liked just about everything. Clean rooms, many channels on TV, friendly staff. I can't think of anything I didn't like.

Our experience was great! Stayed for two whole days and evenings in the hotel and complex, saw shows, went swimming did everything and we were very happy. Staff was welcoming and friendly, room was good, food was too good, pizza good, and everything was to our liking. I must add that I was contemplating canceling after I read the reviews, but so glad that we went and we shall continue to stay here as we keep enjoying our stay like we did this trip.

4hrs after getting there went to water park came back to room to find we was robbed ,they had a key ,think it was girls from front desk,so be fair warned ,hotel wont do nothing!

We stayed at Grand Country Inn in Branson, Missouri, the first weekend in August, 2010. I strongly believe that this is a hotel on the decline. To be fair, the deal we purchased was totally fulfilled by the Inn and the staff was friendly. When we called for more towels during the evening, they came in just a few minutes. However, hygiene and concern for customers was lacking. Much to my dismay, I realized that the bottom sheets on the two beds in our room were not fitted sheets. And, I found this by having my feet rubbing the cover on the mattress. The same cover that every other customer rubs their dirty feet on. The sheets were about 12 inches shy of meeting the end of the bed. When I asked the Front Desk about it, they asked the cleaning staff to check it out - and they reported that I was wrong and that all was well. So, I took pictures. I took the pictures back up to the front where the Head of the cleaning staff said she was sorry about that but they don't have any fitted sheets and this is the way they make the beds. And, she said that there is nothing they can do about it. I hadn't asked for anything but had hoped for some level of concern. The other big issue that came up was that the rest of the rooms on our hall were up late into the night and felt that the hallway was their shouting area. While this is not the fault of the Inn, after four separate calls to them, they never got the other guests to hold it down. This lasted until about 2:45 in the morning and while the Front Desk apologized in the morning about it and initially said they would compensate us by giving us some discounts on the buffet that they have. They later said that the Owner decided against this and there was nothing that they could do about it. Now, lets talk about the Water Park. While the park was fine, nobody checked people coming in or leaving the park and inside the building were a couple open doors which kids could easily leave (voluntarily or not). The sad thing is that there was a booth that had obviously been maintained at one point but clearly had not in a long time. Sadly, once the experience goes bad, you start noticing more issues - like how the shower head screamed when water was on and how the hair dryer overheated. I would recommend that you think twice about staying at Grand Country Inn because it is obviously not what it once was.

After reading some of the reviews we were a little concerned. Don't know what some people expect but we took our great grandson down for his 8th birthday. We all had a blast. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. Loved the indoor water park. My husband and I are 65 and older and we enjoyed it as much as our 8 yr old. We were only there for one night and spent all our time at the water park or the outside pool after riding the Duck, which was a blast also. Would recommend it for anyone with kids.Wish we would have had time to enjoy more that was offered.It was 107 degreees when we were there but didn't notice in the water park,very comfortable.

We liked that it had alot of things do do for kids. You can also have a nice meal at the buffet and the grands pizza place was a nice place for lunch . The only thing that could have made it better was the rooms. Very basic ( but clean ). Outdated as some reviews described it. We were very happy with the show that the grand music hall put on at 8:00. I suggest it to everyone. Very entertaining . Had a nice time

We showed up after 8pm on a Friday and got our room, no problem! It was only $99 and the kids had access to the waterpark for 2 hours. I loved the fact that the kids had access to the waterpark even after checkout. We all loved the buffet breakfast the next morning, nice selection! The staff was friendly and very helpful. Well worth the time and money, my family of 6 will be staying there again in July!
