Ocean Pacific Lodge, Santa Cruz

Don't go here for the holidays. The website says $159 for the King Jacuzzi suite, upon calling and giving my credit card number for reservation. the lady at the desk says "that'll be $169." I respond, "the website says $159, why am i being charge and extra $10?" She says,"well that's if you do it on the website." So i respond, "so are you saying i should hang up and save me $10 because i'm looking at the website right now." she says "you could…." remembering i just gave this woman my card number i just sacrifice $10 Getting there right at check in time, figuring i better arrive early and get my money's worth. Two guys are at the front desk dressed like homeboys they tell me I have to pay up front before i get my key. I felt like this is unusual I usually pay upon check out. but no I get charge 169 on the spot. I take my ton of bags up to the third floor: door is open, bottles and trash, un-made bed. leaving my girlfriend up there with all the bags i go back to the front desk. i tell him what is up there and he says, "Oh there is no other rooms ready so you can just WAIT for the maid to come by." I say, "all my bags are already up there." he says, "you can put them in the closet." I get back up there and after feeling grossed out, realized the room stinks of cigarette smoke, which sucks because i wanted a non smoking room and my girlfriend is a cancer survivor. finally after going back down there he gives me another room that was ready the whole time. I will never recommend this hotel who likes to give people the run-around. oh and the hot tub turned on but didn't shut off for hours the timer wasn't working and only goes up to 30 mins.

I have loved staying here the service is great the continental breakfast is wonderful. The rooms are very specious and very clean. The staff goes beyond the call of duty specially if you need something. I love that I can keep my pet here with me.

Exactly what we were looking for, a hotel walking distance to downtown and to the beach. Affordable and comfortable. Definetly will plan another trip here.

We stayed here on a Saturday nite in January and found a non smoking first floor room. florescent lighting, low flow toilets, pergo floors and clean. the room heater was very loud, even on a low setting. We had trouble sleeping thru the nite because of it (it was cold, in the high 30s overnite so we needed it) However, it did block out the noise from next door, loud conversation and laughter after 10pm. Eventually it quieted down and we had nice nite. PS the continental breakfast was served in the most remote spot, a storage room next to the pool, all the way at the end of the walkway. however, given our options at this price, this was by far the best deal and very doable.

Just returned from 4 days with 2 kids and 1 big dog and was so wonderfully surprised. 5-min. walk (2-3 blocks) to the pier and boardwalk and yet very quiet (due to dog, we were on ground floor - in Room 115). Breakfast not huge but better than many other "name" hotels we've stayed at. Beds were so comfy and THREE pillows on each! All the amenities including coffee machine (NOT stated on website but was there nevertheless) and a mini-fridge that had a huge separate freezer area. Dog area (for nature calls) a little overgrown and mushy underfoot, but very convenient and of relatively good size. Did notice the stated pool hours *inside* the pool area say until 11 p.m. yet they say only until 8 p.m. on the outside of the access gate - forgot to inquire about that discrepancy, but never had a problem with noise (and our window opened right onto the pool). The location, no matter where you want to go is perfect - I did not drive my vehicle at all for three straight days! All in all, cannot wait to return!

Very clean,professional staff,and a perfect location. Ocean Pacific Lodge is a great family oriented establishment. We are a large family and had 4 seperate rooms. Everyone was pleased. We are so pleased that we are going back this week.

It's been awhile since we've stayed at Santa Cruz, and this was our first time staying at the Ocean Pacific Lodge. The staff was friendly, and the room was clean. The facility appeared to be well kept, and the only problem I have is with the Continental Breakfast. Toast, juice, coffee and frozen waffles is not much to brag about. The lodge is a few blocks from the wharf and beach area, but it's about six blocks away from the Boardwalk. There's a great restaurant at the end of the road called, Ideal, and the food is great!

friendly greeting upon arrival. the room was clean and beds were comfortable. very quiet. everything was in working order. we would gladly stay here the next trip to santa cruz.

This was our 3rd year staying at this lodge for New Years Eve! We booked 5 rooms! Wow! What a great deal for the lodge. Originally they were all booked on our credit card (or shall we say held on or credit card.) When we checked in everyone put there rooms on there own credit cards. WELL LITTLE DID WE KNOW IF YOU PAY CASH THEY MAY NOT PROCESS IT CORRECTLY! We all checked out within a 1 hour period I WATCHED with my own 2 eyes my friend pay with CASH for her room! HMMM!!! My credit card was charged for both rooms (that were paid for by cash) AND, IT HAS BEEN 6 DAYS AND THE MANAGER STILL HAS NOT RESOLVED THIS!!!! Oh and bye the way some how the credit card information from my friends credit cards is no where to be found! He doesn't call me back when he says (oh he says he is checking with the clerk!) WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! BEWARE!!! OVERCHARGED BY 2 ROOMS!

Our family stays every summer. Last year we did not enjoy our stay so we were looking @ other accomadations. I was unable to find an alternate motel so we decided to give it one last try. I am glad we did, because it was different and for the good. Breakfast has more to offer especially for the kids. The now looks kept up and they took the time to plant flowers. It was a nice stay we will be back again next year.
