Nautical Inn Resort, Dangriga

New owners, who are very nice people, but, there is no longer a dive operation out of the resort. It is about 3 miles out of the main town of Placencia. the rooms were run down. They do have plans to redo them, but right now, I would not recommend staying there. The food was good though and they did have a pool. They charged us $156 a night and we did not have a fridge or anything that we were supposed to. There were plenty of room available in town for $50 a night. Look for something closer in town where the action is. But if you are with a large family and do not want to stay too close to town, this is a good option.

The staff at Nautical Inn was great. The weather was perfect. We went on the Monkey River trip. We saw the howling monkeys, manatees and a crocodile. On our fishing trip we caught grouper, tuna, bonito, barracuda, snapper, jack and kingfish. We saw porpoise and a whale shark. We had a great diving and snorkeling trip. Five days was not enough. We look forward to returning. I want to try inshore fishing for tarpon, snook and bonefish. I really want to dive more also.

This inn is literally just steps from the sea, which is about 85 degrees right now! It is heaven! The room I'm staying in has a lovely view of the pool and also several windows facing the sea, which is wonderful to wake up to every morning. I really like the location, it isn't in touristy Placecia Village. This location somehow feels more authentic. Their beach is pristine, it is raked every morning and it is just beautiful. There isn't really a restaurant per se, but they are on the brink of opening one. They do have fresh coffee every morning which is nice. My room had a kitchenette so I was able to make my own breakfast of fruit and toast. While I was here there was a lot of quiet construction going on - painting, and new tile work being done. They are under new management now and it's obvious they are trying to revamp and so far it's looking great!!

I loved the resort right on the water! The water was a little dirty and it was right next to a small village of locals so that had its perks and disadvantages.
