WOW ! What a lovely view this place has....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/11
The view is beautiful. So what if the rooms are a little dated ( so are we). I loved the fact there are (2) vanities in the room especially since we had (4) adults. The rest of the Hotel is wonderful. It was very clean as was the pool area. The bar & resturant were a great conveinience with good prices. The staff was very friendly. The location was Great as was the room rate. I would definately stay here again & would recomended this place to anyone. The private beach was very nice , not crowded at all. The beach chair rentals & the people that took care of them were very accomodating too...taking the time to move the umbrellas through out the day as the sun moved they were ready to adjust them for you to have sun or shade. Loved being so pampered ! Wonderful place to stay . Give them a try if you are going to this area. You will be glad you did !! There are lots of great places to dine near by also. You will be Happy you didn't believe all of the negative reviews. I almost belived them , but I am a daring type so I thought , what the heck I will make my own decision and am now glad I did! Give them a try!

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/11
We paid for a room that I wouldn't give two cents for. The shower curtain was moldy, there were issues with the toilet, the sheets were wrinkled and we found hair in them upon arrival. The beach in Orange Beach is beautiful, but don't waste your money on this place. the staff was inconsiderate and the management so rude! the have inconvenient policies and overall, this was a stay I was heavily displeased with. Don't waste your time, money, and patience.

Awful, awful, awful!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/11
While the location is very nice, the rest had much to be desired. I am saying that in the kindest way possible. The room smelled musty, but I suppose that takes to the place. I felt insecure with the doors all having a simple key lock. Honestly, anyone could break into them! The managers were rude and obnoxious. They seemed more concerned with their own day to day lives than running the actual hotel. The food was passable, but not what you would expect in a hotel. The chefs are usually excellent, I wouldn't recommend it. Overall, it was an awful stay and money wasted. The only upside was that the weather was warm and the beach was nice. Otherwise, we said "good riddance" when we left!

Great Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/1/09
My family and I have been staying at the Island House Hotel since they opened in 1993. We contiue to make the Island House Hotel our beach vacation every year. The Island House Hotel has been open since 93 but it seems just like a very brand new property. The hotel is the best family hotel around. I would recommend this hotel to anyone anytime. The staff is excellence from the front desk staff to the cafe. Excellent hotel!!!!

Will never return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/21/09
Been at least 10 years, the staff was not truthful about coolers at pool, town council smoking laws,or lock changes in the middle of week. The hotel is getting old and run down for the price to stay. Will miss the location but will survive.

Wanted to stay a little longer.
By Waterdog, 9/13/09
The view is great - right on the beach. Located outside the tourist congestion, but near nice restaurants & supermarkets. The staff was friendly, pool was beautiful & we'll definitely go back. Since it rained on & off on our trip, we would have enjoyed a gym and hot tub - other than that, can't complain.

Great hotel for the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/09
My husband and I plus another couple and their daughter chose this hotel as opposed to a condo rental since we only had a short time to spend in Orange Beach. We found it very adequate and the location was fantastic. The hotel staff were very accommodating and the restaurant was wonderful for a quick breakfast. We have previously stayed in condominiums on the Gulf Coast and although I prefer condo's for a homogeneous family visit, combined groups of families traveling together often enjoy their own space. All in all, our stay was very enjoyable and I would definitely stay there again. There is a shortage of suitable hotels in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area along the coast. More hotels in the area are needed.

My wife and kids just came back from a trip to Orange Beach. The Island House Hotel is a hidden treasure for families. The Hotel has a great staff and everyone has that great southern hospatlity. Recommed this place to everyone you will feel like you are still at home.
