Great Service
By Michael, 12/01/09
My family and I have been staying at the Island House Hotel since they opened in 1993. We contiue to make the Island House Hotel our beach vacation every year. The Island House Hotel has been open since 93 but it seems just like a very brand new property. The hotel is the best family hotel around. I would recommend this hotel to anyone anytime. The staff is excellence from the front desk staff to the cafe. Excellent hotel!!!!

Will never return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/09
Been at least 10 years, the staff was not truthful about coolers at pool, town council smoking laws,or lock changes in the middle of week. The hotel is getting old and run down for the price to stay. Will miss the location but will survive.

Wanted to stay a little longer.
By Michelle, 09/13/09
The view is great - right on the beach. Located outside the tourist congestion, but near nice restaurants & supermarkets. The staff was friendly, pool was beautiful & we'll definitely go back. Since it rained on & off on our trip, we would have enjoyed a gym and hot tub - other than that, can't complain.

Great hotel for the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/09
My husband and I plus another couple and their daughter chose this hotel as opposed to a condo rental since we only had a short time to spend in Orange Beach. We found it very adequate and the location was fantastic. The hotel staff were very accommodating and the restaurant was wonderful for a quick breakfast. We have previously stayed in condominiums on the Gulf Coast and although I prefer condo's for a homogeneous family visit, combined groups of families traveling together often enjoy their own space. All in all, our stay was very enjoyable and I would definitely stay there again. There is a shortage of suitable hotels in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area along the coast. More hotels in the area are needed.

My wife and kids just came back from a trip to Orange Beach. The Island House Hotel is a hidden treasure for families. The Hotel has a great staff and everyone has that great southern hospatlity. Recommed this place to everyone you will feel like you are still at home.

"UNSANITARY Conditions, Abusive Staff"
By Joe, 07/03/09
At 2:30 AM the toilet overflowed terribly. We asked to be moved to another room and they refused saying it was our responsibility. They insinuated we were "partying" when in fact it was me, my spouse and our 2 young nieces in the room fast asleep since 10PM. "Big party" It was unsanitary and the staff was rude and downright abusive. The security guard actually physically threatened my spouse. It was insane. A terrible place!

Will stay here on future visits
By Todd, 06/22/09
Before booking our room, we read all the reviews on various sites of this hotel. A majority of reviews were positive. Those that were negative did scare us, but figured not everyone can be happy. We were extremely pleased with this hotel. The staff were extrememly friendly and helpful as far as giving directions to food places and sights. A special thank you goes to the staff that worked in the cafe. They were extremely friendly and the breakfast was excellant. I did read some negative comments regarding smoking on the balcony etc. If those that complain about that are to check out Alabama's smoking laws, they will see that is out of the hands of the hotel management. Smokers are free to smoke near the pool, which is just an elevator ride away from your room. Also, the people who ran the beach chair and umbrella service were very nice. Hotel is in a great location, with many restaurants in easy driving distance. Hotel was a great value for the price.

Not so happy
By Rooster, 06/10/09
We have 2 small children and they have to have milk. The hotel charges $20/night for a refridgerator. No telling how much for a microwave. The room was fairly small, extra charges for everything. $250 if caught smoking on balcony, $5 for each key not turned in at checkout, etc. Housekeeping never came to our room one day, had to ask twice before somebody came. However, all rooms are gulf front, pool is ok, food in resturaunt is good, service is good. Main problem was no refridgerator!
