Not worth the money!
By ,
What were we paying for? It was very expensive and did not include anything! Parking was outragious at 32 per day! The only place to eat there was very expensive although the food was excellent! Bottles of water in your room were offered at a whopping 5$ a pop! We soon realized that we were not even going to think of picking up the room phone and calling the front desk for anything. I did not dare to use the complimentary "or not" soaps, toothpaste, etc. for I had this sickening feeling that there would be a rediculous charge for these usually free items. We were vacationing, therefore we were dressed casually. The staff constantly treated us as if we were in the wrong hotel by asking questions that seemed somewhat degrading. Though we had been there for a few days they acted like we just walked off the street and were trying to squat the hotel. It was obvious because we were not in suits and ties, and dressed to the hill, that we were not up to the standards of the staff. For 200 or so a night, I felt ripped off and humiliated by the staff. A Holiday Inn would have suited me fine, at about half the price and a nice free breakfast to boot! No free breakfast here! The perks were, the view on the harborside! It was a beautiful city scape at night across the harbor. The other side was just a homely view of the airport which was surprisingly quiet and didn't bother us at all. The faucets leaked constantly and wouldn't shut off all the way. I can't imagine their water bill! The room was nice but certainly not what I would have expected at this price. I've stayed at other places much nicer and less expensive with many more amenities. To make it worse my billing was messed up and I had to deal with having charges removed from my credit card! Urgh! I'm not sure I would stay here again even if someone put me up here. I wanted to relax and was just made to feel like I didn't belong because of the treatment from the staff. Another issue was that the cleaning staff could not speak english and when we ran out of TP in our room I went to one of the cleaning staff and it was obvious that english was not understood. I pointed at the toilet paper and she gave me a roll. Overall review, don't waste your money!

Getting married at the Hyatt? Then listen up...
By ,
I got married at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel not too long ago. The major attraction was none other than the marvelous review. The biggest challege I faced was from our lovely Catering Manager Amy Stroope. Good Luck if anyone plans on getting married there nad gets Amy. Let me give a little hint of what was experienced. Let's say she took notes on what was requested but didn't follow through. Let's say we discussed adding or removing something from the dinner menu another thing was done. Other than the dealings with the catering manager, I would recommend this place. It ws unfortunate that we had to 'deal' with such a person and made it very difficult for us to get what we wanted (which was much) but other it is what it is. Nothing will ever beat that view that I recall seeing that night!

Watch out for fees!
By ,
I didn't even stay at this hotel, but just from the reservation process got a very bad impression. First, they charged the entire cost of my stay as a downpayment on my credit card, 2 months in advance. I was not happy about carrying the entire balance on my credit card 2 months early! Then, I decided to cancel 6 weeks in advance and was told I'd be charged a $25 cancellation fee! In my experience cancellations well in advance are not subject to fees. It is taking numerous phone calls to fight this issue, and I was just told the person who was supposed to resolve this by today is now on vacation for a week. I was told the $25 cancellation fee is a Hyatt policy, therefore I will never make a reservation at a Hyatt hotel again!

Awesome hotel
By ,
I frequent Boston on business trips and usually stay at this Hyatt. I find it in a very convenient location and there free shuttle a great value since I don't have a car. You simply call the hotel and they will come get you. They remodeled it not too long ago so it's nicely decorated also , with aguably the best views of the boston skyline. The staff is always so attentive and friendly. The Grill which is inside the hotel has makes an angus beef burger that melts in your mouth .and a creamy dip for the fries you must try(!!forgot the name) but probably not good for you though.lol. If I am there on weekends I take the 10 minute water taxi over the harbor into the city... 2 for 1 beers where on the other side :) It's convenient because it's right behind the airport (though you don't hear any planes at all) . If you are business traveler or just need a convenient, beautiful hotel near the airport but accessible to the city and see other boston attractions ,then I think you would like that hotel alot. I find it a great value for me

The shuttle from the airport took us 40 min's to get and 4 phone calls, we froze shile waiting. The hotel did upgrade us to a a harbor view which was nice. The view was good, the room clean and the bed was great. The walls were thin, door slammed very loud, we had to wear earplugs to sleep. The only place to eat in the hotel was very expensive. We skipped supper and ate cookies. The water taxi is right behind the hotel and the ride across the harbor was fun. We brought food back to the hotel to eat. A burger at the hotel was close to 18.00. The price of the hotel was very expensive for what you got.

Great
By ,
Just great !! I had the pleasure of staying here and everything from the service to the food was excellent for an " airport" hotel. The amenities are great and the restoration really made the hotel greater one in the Boston area !

Disappointing first stay!
By ,
Likes: Descent rooms. Nice waterfront view. Dislikes: Apart from the noisy A/C/Heater unit, this place was a rip-off! For the amount I paid per night, I would think they could at least give FREE local calls. On the contrary, I got charged for local calls! They don't even tell you until you get the bill. High-speed internet & wireless was NOT FREE ($9.95 per day). Parking was also $32/night, which is ridiculous! (At least have some kind of discounts) They charge for everything! I paid $299/night for what? So make sure you ask about everything before booking here. I will not stay here again! Had much better experiences at other hotels. Next time, I might just even consider staying at a Motel 6 first; at least they have free local calls, parking, and internet.

a few surprises
By ,
Parking in their lot was $30/day. Coffee"pot" in the King harborside room ($350/nite) was a 1-cup machine. I've never seen this - even in 2 or 3 star hotels. All the attractions/entertainment/tours, etc were on the other side of the harbor, so you had to drive your own vehicle, repark at the hotel for $30, take a cab, catch the subway at the airport, or ride a water taxi across. Some guests waited 45 minutes for cabs. (We had a very bad experience with a cab driver, but that wasn't the Hyatt's fault.) The water taxi was great. The good things - the concierges were very helpful, the receptionists were nice, the fitness center was great, the views were fabulous, the bed and bedding were awesome.

I Won't Use Yahoo! Travel Again
By ,
Because of weather delays in Boston, I missed my flight to Portugal, and I had to turn around and come back to California. Through all the commotion of missing my flight and returning home, I forgot to cancel the hotel reservation I had made for the return part of the trip. I remembered I had made the reservation two days before I was supposed to use it. So I called up Yahoo! travel to cancel it, and some Indian or Pakistani guy (whatever he was, he could barely speak English) told me that I was being penalized the cost of one night's stay because I hadn't cancelled three days in advance. I got no refund for the plane ticket that didn't get me where I was going, and I was charged for a hotel room I didn't even use. Real nice. Unless you update your cancellation policies, from now on I will use Yahoo! travel only to determine what flights and hotels I want to use, and then contact them directly.

great view & excellent staff but some minor issues
By ,
stayed june 2006. great location w/ one of the best views in america! room was clean & beds were well above average & comfortable. hotel food is grossly overpriced with substandard quality. all hotel staff were incredibly helpful & polite and were the bright spot of our stay. had some trouble with the dsl connection & called the front desk which put me through to the help desk which is in poland--------------despite being on the phone for 90+ minutes they solved nothing, spoke poor english & were a waste of time. if you're staying here, the cheapest way to the city is by very easy public transit on the "T". we'd have no reservations staying here again. staff are far above average. just make sure you eat in town.
