Tried and True in Shinagawa
The Dai Ichi Seafort hotel is located near the Shinagawa train station but at approximately 2 km, not close enough to convienently use the airport train shuttle; it is located on the monorail and a subway line. The airport limo service also doesn't stop here as often as it does to some other hotels in the general area. The rooms are basic--on the small size compared to US standards, but are very clean. Staff is helpful and most speak very good English. The hotel is attached to a nice but small mall that offers a large selection of (mostly) Japanese style restaurants. There is a good Irish pub in this mall. Across the street is another complex of shops and restaurants including Italian, Korean, Subway, and numerous excellent sushi restaurants. There are several minimarts and a newly opened supermarket within easy walking distance. Resaurant is good but much more expensive than the resaurants outside their doors. They charge approximately US$20 to use the gym but it is very safe and easy to walk or jog within the area. The excellent TY Harbor Brewery and Restaurant is located within easy walking distance at approximately 0.5 km. For most tourists, it will be much easier to stay at a hotel closer to the Shinagawa train station.
