Right next to the best snorkeling
By ,
The Hotel is set with many small buildings with the rooms at only 2 stories. No elevator needed here. The Hotel is getting old, but the staff is always working to keep the grounds clean and neat. The rooms are fairly small, but we asked for close to the beach, that is exactly what we got. Our room location was perfect, in the middle of everything with great access to the resort. All in all if you are looking for good value in a great location in Mexico, this may be for you. The weather was 85/87 every day, cooling to 75/77 at night. Please do not think your going to an all inclusive, fine dining experience. The shows.... well you be the judge. The food, edible but we just couldn't do it anymore, the same dishes over and over, even though they call it a different theme everynight. We ate out a lot. All the beer is from a keg and served in plastic glasses. So we had to seek that iced cold corona in a bottle at other locations. Good locations for kids, the local families from Mexico City all come here for their vacations.

Will Never Return Or Recommend
By ,
What I disliked was the fact I had to get up every morning and go to the front desk to get bath towels because they were never delivered; the quality of the food was lousy. What I liked was the location, nestled away in a quiet area near Ixtapa Island; perfect location. The weather was of course beautiful. The quietness of the rooms was good and they were comfortable. I would recommend eating breakfast there, and eating lunch and dinner elsewhere if you need 3 squares a day. The transportation of the bus system was impeccable. Overall would I return to that resort NO, but I loved Zhijuatanejo and would return there.

Awsome place would go back!
By ,
It was an awsome place, I loved it and same with my family. The food did get old after a while, the staff were always on the go trying to get you everything you wanted. There was even a boogie boards for kids beach volleyball and the disco my 18 year old son meet somepeople they had lots of fun. If you go here you have to take a night out and go to senior frogs which is about a 10 min. taxi ride greatest time of my life there. The place was pretty clean. The rooms were not the greatest and the beds were hard but other then that we had a blast with all you can drink and a snack bar will meals all ready to go and differnt themes everynight you cant go wrong.Just when you think you have to be by your kids 24/7 its totaly safe there! Loved it and would go back!! Enjoy your stay.

it's and ok vacation on a budget
By ,
the staff was friendly most of the time, the rooms were a bit out dated. The walls were paper thin, you can hear everyting. You have to shower at certain times of the day so that you will get warm water. But it is right on the beach a good place to relax. Very calm, you will find no spring breakers here. It is only a short walk away from the Island of Ixtapa. The beaches there are far more beautiful with bluer water, and some actvities. But do not expect anything close to being first class. It's very humble.

Great place! Friendly people!
By ,
This is a great resort and an excellent deal. A tropical paradise! Nothing too fancy but very relaxing. The entire facility was spotless and the workers definitely aim to please. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Location was perfect! Away from the hussle and bussle and an easy ride on the bus (60 cents) to Ixtapa or Zihau! Will definitely return!

We will return!!
By ,
Rooms, food and service were as advertised although one must take into acount the age of the resort. (It was one of the first built in the Ixtapa region.) Our only complaint was with the activities people and equipment. Their availability was contingent upon the numbers of people in the hotel. We enjoyed the grounds, the pools, the beach, the food, the alligator farm, the nearby antojitos mini-mall and the proximity of the pier for passage to Ixtapa Island and fishing (great). We are 68. With us were our 44-year-old daughter and her 3 children. The Qualton is isolated and therefore very quiet. If you want the hustle-bustle of downtown Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo, you can take a taxi for $6.00 to $10.00 or a bus (every 15 minutes) for 70 cents. I've talked myself into booking again right now. JZK

The disco was great. open after the entertainment right till 1:00. The weather was hot ever day. The rooms we nice to. The only problem is if you go you will never want to go home.

Not what I expected, but I fell in love!
By ,
I began my stay feeling a bit disappointed about the shabby decor and the mediocre food. Once I got over that I began to see the charm of the place. I fell in love with it after a day of "letting go" of my Canadian expectations. After a few days I was so glad that I hadn't booked into a typical highrise hotel. The quiet bungalow style suited me. The beach was much quieter than downtown Ixtapa's, with no public access and gentler surf. I soon learned which kind of food I would like and stuck with it. The hotel was clean and I only saw 1 bug outside, which was quickly caught by a gecko. The cleaning staff treated me VERY well (for a very small tip, $2.00). The experience was very Mexican and VERY relaxing. The Qualton Club is located at the end of the tourist area, which added to the serenity of the stay. The grounds were beautiful and the view spectacular. It was the most relaxing vacation I have ever been on. I hope to go again. P.S. The cold showers get warm if you leave them on long enough...
