FANTASTIC!
By ,
Nothing to dislike. Staff and the owner were very easy to talk to. Food was very good. Plus the coffee hour in the afternoon, and the wine tasting in the early evening was an unexpected surprise. Will go back.

Not so sure...
By ,
I'm planning an anniversary getaway for my boyfriend and myself. I've never stayed at the Angel of The Sea and now I'm not so sure if I want to. I called to ask about prices and the girl seemed very annoyed and snotty when she answered. She made it seem like I was bothering her. Like I said, I was really looking into staying here but if the rest of the staff is like her, I'm not sure if I want to spend my hard earned money and be treated like that.

Best Place for a Wedding
By ,
My husband and I wanted a get-away wedding, some place warm and were the people are always friendly (definetly a lot warmer than WI). This was the place! We got married on their front porch and the staff was helpful in every way. From helping us pick out a flower shop, carriage ride for after the wedding, a restuarant for our reception, holding on to packages we mailed (like the dress and many other things) until we arrived and helping us change the location of the wedding from the third floor to the main level just hours before the wedding. The service was superb. It was way worth the money and I would have paid TRIPLE if I would have known how perfect the day was going to turn out. We have never met any nicer people than those in Cape May and especially at The Angel of the Sea and this alone is the reason why we want to move there and soon will!

A beautiful welcome into Spring
The staff was so so friendly and helpful. We were welcomed and given a choice of room, and were actually able to check in a little early because the room was ready. Sharon immediately told us of our dining options and then eagerly made our reservation. We were sunning so we skipped tea, but enjoyed the wine and cheese with other very friendly guests. Very comfortable and clean, and the breakfast apple cobbler was a delicious start to a egg and cheese strata served with muffins and fruit. YUMMY I would recommend this bed and breakfast highly, and would go back in a heartbeat. I love visiting these places off season.

Seduced
By ,
My wife took me here for my 50th birthday. It was January of 2007 and it was great. My wife still talks about the pancakes with the hint of sweet potatoes in them. It was a really good experience. It was the most comfortable bed we ever slept in.

Simply Put....GREAT!
By ,
Been there twice, both experiences were great! For the reviewers who complained...they'd probably complain that Rome was nothing but a bunch of broken statues. The staff couldn't be more courteous or helpful, so I have a difficlt time believing those who moaned that the staff was uncaring. Again, these are probably people who constantly send their dinners back because it isn't cooked as perfect as they would like it. Constant complainers...you know who you are. On our last visit, we met a couple who were there for the 11th time. I asked why they didn't try other B&B's and they said..."Why should we? The Angel is the best..by far." So, people out there, if you're thinking about going to a Cape May B&B for a little vacation, go to The Angel of the Sea. The accomodations are great, the location is super great, breakfast is very good, and they also have tea, coffe and cakes at 4:00 and wine and cheese at 5:30. Plus free beach chairs, free bicycles, free beach towels and free beach umbrellas. Please, don't pay attention to those complaining morons. I promise you won't be disappointed. Ed S

A Charming Place...
By ,
My sisters and I just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Angel of the Sea. I have never written a review of anyplace I've stayed before, but because I had seen some of the negative reviews of this place I had to write one that was positive. The inn looks just like all the photos on the website, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were just as we had expected. The tea time, wine and cheese time and breakfast were all very nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I think the people who wrote the negative reviews may not understand that if you are staying in a very old place that of course there are going to be some things that are not as pristine as a brand new 5 star hotel. It's an old building...that's part of it's charm. It's kind of like staying in someone's home, so everything might not be like you would be used to in a hotel, but I have never stayed in a B & B that was like a newer hotel. That would be missing the point. If you require absolute perfection and everything shiny and new, don't stay here; but if you can appreciate the care that went into resorting this grand old inn and overlook minor little things like smaller bathrooms and a few places where some paint might have chipped off the woodwork (most people overlook it a home!)then come and enjoy the hospitality and warmth that this lovely Victorian inn. I'd recommend it to friends and will definately be back. I wish I were sitting on one of their fabulous porches looking out on the ocean right now!

Disappointed in Cape May
By ,
The B & B was very nice. Unfortunately I became very ill when I arrived at the Inn. We informed the Inn keeper at around 3PM about my illness and the possibility of trying to resell the room. They said that they would try but if they weren't able to resell the room we would be responsible for the room rate. We couldn't take the chance of waiting around to see if they could rent the room because we had to catch the last ferry back to Lewis. My wife did not take part in any of the afternoon or evening wine and tea activities because she felt uncomfortable. We ended up staying the night and leaving without eating breakfast due to my illness. I would have thouhgt, as good business people, that they would have offered the opportunity to come back in the off season to stay a night but I guess that the $300 wasn't enough to warrant a comp night.

Broken bed nightmare
By ,
When we arrived after a 5 and 1/2 hour ride, my husband laid down on the bed only to discover that it was broken. When we told the management, there was no apology and in fact when we returned to the room at the end of the day, they told us there was nothing wrong with the bed. We both looked under it and could see where the problem was. They said there were no other rooms available and refused to refund any money. The shower leaked and the breakfast was mediocre. It was the worst Bed and Breakfast experience we have ever had in 25 years. We spent two nights sleeping on chairs. The owner refused to talk to us and never returned any calls.

Angel is an Angel!
By ,
Our stay at the Angel was enchanting and romantic. There is a grandeur and a history to the old building that can be missed by people looking for perfection. Our first day at the Angle was awesome. We actually cancelled plans to shop so that we could enjoy the afternoon tea and the wine and cheese in the early evening. There was plenty (actually more than I ever expected) to eat at a tea or wine and cheese social). The staff was eager to please and very helpful. We enjoyed the social time in the dining room and at breakfast we were very pleased with the meal. I would highly recommend the Angel to anyone who is looking for Victorian beauty and history.
