Absolutely wonderful - can't wait to go again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/12/11
Loved this place, it is so wonderful. We stayed in the little rustic house at the ranch. Went there for a wedding on the ranch. The lands surrounding the place is unbelievable, cactus and mountains. People running the place are so great and relaxed. You can walk around the ranch and you see art work all along the paths. Everywhere you look is a reminder of how you can turn things into great art. You open the door of the little cottage and you face mountains, birds, rabbits and wonderful cacti. I would return there again. Even found time to go to Grand Canyon (5-6rs from there).

THE place to stay in Oracle
By vacationveteran, 9/1/09
Absolutely loved this place. Great getaway just north of Tucson. It's an old ranch from the 1800s - multiple buildings on 80 or so acres, I believe. The main ranch house where the owners live (also where you have breakfast) is low-slung & charming. I'd love a tour of it someday - I read somewhere it has a massive old fireplace. There are 3-4 rental cottages. The one to get is Hill House. It's the highest building on the property, quiet & private. It looks like it was built in the 1800s & resembles a bright, airy old farmhouse. There are 3 bedrooms (two with twins, one queen) & a bath with claw-foot tub. Nice central living room with several seating areas. Charming full-sized eat-in kitchen with vintage refrigerator. Nice views from every room. Wonderful front porch. The place is so relaxing, light-filled & peaceful. It's fun to walk around the property. The owner Sharon is an artist & her partner is the longtime renowned KXCI dj Kid Squidd. They have many interests & activities going on, and there are frequent events for the public on weekends. The property has an 'art path' thru the desert you can meander along, with intermittent pauses to rest on a bench or view sculptures. The furthest point of the path leads to the corral where you'll find Mojave, the sweet adopted BLM burro. You can check out the art gallery, in a rustic adobe-brick building, or cruise by the metal sculpture studio & see what they're working on. There's a diminutive farmer's market every Saturday with delicious treats of all kinds. Two of the highlights were jars of outstanding homemade pesto, and locally-made goat milk cheese (the guy had adorable baby goats with him!). On the weekends there are often also things like also open art studio tours, other art events (most notably GLOW), concerts, etc - check with Sharon before booking to see if anything's going on when you're there. Of all the countless b&b's I've stayed at, and all the elaborate, gourmet breakfasts, this one lives on in my mind as the most delicious. There was a yummy frittata & rosemary-infused hash browns. Months later, and many vacation breakfasts in between, this is the one my husband & I still talk about! And as a bonus, Kid Squidd (Dave Squiers) is on hand to personally dj your meal & you can use this opportunity to tap his encyclopedic knowledge of American music over the last 80-odd years! He actually teaches classes in rock-n-roll history but never tires of discussing his passion. This alone is worth the price of admission! While in Oracle, a highly-recommended activity would be Kannally Ranch at Oracle State Park. It's an impressive old Mediterranean-Moorish style ranch house on hundreds of acres of pristine views. When you're up there looking around, you can't see any other buildings anywhere. 360 degrees of gorgeous high desert. They just barely escaped closure in the budget crunch, so going out to support them with your $5 will help them stay open.
