I will never stay here again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/11
When making the reservation I checked to ensure that we would have internet access. When we arrived we were told that none of the B units have any internet access, wireless or otherwise. This problem could have been solved by simply moving the router in the A unit closer to a shared wall since it was only slightly out of range (a fact the staff was made aware of), but we were instead told that if we wanted the internet in our room we would have to upgrade to a suite. It is also worth noting that the image of the floorplan on your website has been deliberately resized so that it is impossible to read the dimensions. The same image is used as a floorplan for both the "suite" and "room", the only differences are coloring and orientation. The "suite" floorplan shows the area for the "room" completely blacked out. The "room" floorplan shows both the "suite" and the "room" with all (unreadable) dimensions intact. It appears, after a cursory look, that the "suite" is a unit all by itself, sharing no walls with any other guests and that the "room" is something other than a very large closet that somehow has two beds in it. Having to smoke outside is irritating and inconvenient enough under normal circumstances. Since the "porch" we were told to smoke on was not screened in any way (another treat apparently reserved for guests who spring for the suite) we were left to experience local insect life up close and personal several times a night. In addition to mosquitoes there was also a very large population of roaches. This left us with the choice between staying on the porch while being eaten alive by mosquitoes and hopping away from roaches or walking from our room on the second floor to the middle of the parking area for every cigarette; still having to dodge bugs on the way of course. There were also two dead roaches pushed into a corner behind the toilet in the bathroom. The video of over a dozen roaches coming up from between the boards on the porch is one I'm sure we will cherish. The water in the room was very hard and would also not get hot from sink unless we also ran the shower briefly. We went to the Palmetto Pub. There was only one waitress on staff and she was not informative or attentive. My boyfriend ordered his usual Rusty Nail. His drink came out to fourteen dollars and was mostly ice. A bad drink is one thing, but there was no reason for her not to inform us that we would be charged for two top shelf liquors to make one three ounce drink. That was seven dollars for an ounce and a half of the cheapest Glenlivit and another seven dollars for half an ounce of Drambuie, assuming she was even close to preparing it properly. The only food we ordered were the jalapeno poppers, thinking such a basic bar staple would be safe. Of course, we were wrong. Whatever cheese was used in those poppers was either spoiled or completely inappropriate for use in that recipe, they were disgusting. We were planning on going to Websters every morning for breakfast, but after the experience at the Palmetto Pub we saw no point in trying any of their other restaurants. We were also not told at check in that we needed to put a deposit down in order to get a key to access the pool directly behind our building. We thought nothing of it at first since there was an unlocked gate that gave us convenient access. The next time we tried to get to the pool there was a padlock on the gate. We returned to our room and called guest services who said they were sending security right over. After waiting twenty minutes and seeing no sign of any employees, we walked to the clubhouse ourselves and were finally told about the key. We booked the room for a discounted rate, were not there to play golf, and we are both obviously under forty years of age. The staff made it very clear that they were not going to do anything to make our stay more enjoyable unless we upgraded to a suite. I will never stay at Pawleys Plantation again.

A MUST SEE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/8/07
The 2 bedreem villas are very spacious. It accomodated small children quite nicely with the rooms for them to play inside. Waking up with the view of the golf course is excellent for a golfer. My family visits every year.

Beautiful setting, varied and challenging hole layouts. Course very well maintained. Food at clubhouse outstanding Only wish they had wet towels for those coming off the course to cool off/ clean up after play like some other hot climate courses I've been too,

AWESOME!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/29/05
This place is first class all the way. I got married here in July 2004 and came back in July 2005 for my anniversary. Everyone remembered us and treated us as royalty. It felt great to be here!! Outstanding facility and even better people.
