Island Club Resorts/ Belize Yacht Club, San Pedro

We loved it all!!!! The service was excellent. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our apt. was spacious and well equipped. The view from our apt. was spectacular! We made so many friends. We want to return as soon as we can. San Padro is a layed back kinda place. There is no pressure to go quickly. The only thing that goes quickly on the island are the "Toyota Taxi's!" If you want to visit a simple life, we highly recommend this island. Have fun and say hi to Sheena, Victor and Ester!

We stayed at Belize Yacht Club for 9 nights and found it clean, comfortable, and convenient. The ocean front suite we occupied was spacious with stove, fridge and microwave that worked and grocery store nearby, so we had breakfast and lunch in the kitchen and dined out late in the day at so many lovely restaurants on the island. The staff at BYC was always friendly and called me by name. The internet in the lobby was readily available with hours 7 - 7 and I worked out at the fitness center above the lobby every day -so convenient. It was a low key place with staff always at the pool playing great music to add to the flavor of the place. A short walk to town, we had the best of both worlds - far enough away to be quiet, and close enough to walk to activities. The beach at BYC is not swimmable, so we walked to Ramones (five minutes) and beached there all day and watched the NBA playoffs there at night. I highly recommend this resort!

A wonderful staff provides everything from the expected to the "WoW- that was really nice-experience. A rather small relaxed setting on the beach-walking distance to most things, a golf-cart ride to everything else aand next to the pier for water rides to all of Belize. This is a vacation that affords privacy,relaxation and activities that a family can love. Day trips offer a wide range of adventures. I can't wait to go back!

Just got back.5-4-05.This place is one of the nicest on the island.The people are great.I have been all over Mexico and C.A. and you wont find nicer people.The room was clean and everything worked.Its not a posh room but for San Pedro its really good.The grounds are beautiful.The food was excellent,but the dining room is small and informal.Small outside bar,with friendly service.The beach is also small,but clean and private.Store is a short walk away,but food is expensive.It's cheaper to go dining then to cook yourself.The location is great,you can walk most anywhere or cabs are cheap.Please feed the dog (Mene'] Its a dog that hangs out there,but he's a really good watch dog.Overall for the price its a nice place.

WAY overpriced for what you get. We have stayed on the island several times. This is one place i would not recommend. I also looked into the amount it would cost to keep my boat there, are you kidding???

hi i stayed at the belize yacht club and i thougth it was excellent.
i had a great time there, i loved swimming in the pool, and you had beautiful ocean to go and swim in too! it was a great location in case you wanted to go out and have a great night at a dance club or something. and i would recommend anyone to come and stay at this hotel. the room i had was great because i had a big bed i had my own fridge and stove in case i wanted to cook...had a living room in case i had company...well anyways what im trying to say is that i had a great time and it is nice i rate it **** stars

My family and I have stayed at the Belize Yacht Club twice. We went for Spring Break '06 and '07. The resort is absolutely gorgeous. We stayed in a condo that was right in front of the ocean -- stunning views! The swimming pool and bar are both very nice. I love the "swim up" bar; it's a convinient way to get drinks and stay cool in the water. As for the restaurant that many people complained about, I would say that is was decent. The food is a little high priced and the service was slow. HOWEVER, you have to remember that San Pedro is on island time! Everything moves at a lot slower pace down there. It's nice to get away from the hustle of big cities. The food on the island is a little overpriced, but we never experienced one bad meal. It's nice to go outside of the resort and find some unique places to eat. All of the food was fresh -- especially the fruit. As for ammenities and activities, I thought the options were great. There are many exciting things to do - snorkleing, diving, parasailing, etc. There are also things to do off of the island! You can go back to the mainland and take beautiful tours of Mayan remains. Overall, our stay at the Yacht Club was excellent! It was paradise! We will definitely be going back next year, and are even thinking about purchasing a condo at the resort! Claudia (the bartender) is very friendly and personable. She was very nice and helpful. Eric (I think he is part of the management team) is also a wonderful person. He was always very friendly and helpful with all of our needs. The Belize Yacht Club is a great vacation spot -- it's not overcrowded with tourists and it is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay!

Had a place that backed on the street...WAY TOO NOISY! Pull out sofa too old broken springs no comfort!! Slept on floor with matress very uncomfortable!! Fridge was dripping on my food,one frypan that i would not use for fear of disease, Blinds on windows too old and not functioning,no iron or ironing board etc. Looked like owners havent spent any money on it for at least 10 years. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!! Do not recommend!!!

The hotel staff knows nothing, not even the name of the two parrots in front of the lobby! We had a family of four and it tooks us hours and many requests to get 4 towels. Our toaster caught fire, stove did not work, rollaway bed did not open and the maid service showed up to clean (not at all the first day) at 5-6pm every day after a long day of snorkeling and sun when we wanted to use the showers... The concierge booked us a tour and seemed to have never done it before. Only Miss Erma could ever help. The rooms on the street are REALLY Loud! Also, not centrally located. Pool and bartender were nice. Do not reccommend.

The food at the Belize Yacht Club restaurant is not very good at all - and priced like a fine dining establishment. Wait staff forgot some of my order and then brought the wrong thing out. Eating by the pool is also very disappointing. The menu is just on 2 crumpled pieces of paper stapled together and the staff took a really long time to return and clear our plates. One must keep in mind that in the hot Belizean sun, this is not a good idea as it attracts insects. They once again forgot some of our order and when reminded, failed to bring it out. We couldn't find the girl bartender at the swim up bar, she was gone so long that customers waiting just got up and left. 2 different sets of customers! We saw two guys pay their bill for three drinks and it was $36 Belize, which is $12 per drink! That's way too steep, it's ridiculous. People actually warned us to stay away from the bar there. Accomodations are okay, nothing great and once again not worth what you are charged. In talking with other people, we've noticed that the Yacht Club doesn't seem to have a very friendly reputation. Your mileage may vary.
