Thunderbird Beach Motel, Ocean City

We liked the fact that the hotel was so close to the beach and restaurants,but VERY unhappy with the fact that the 20 something bunch of kids above us was SOOOO loud all night long AND the fact that we tried to go to the pool around 7:30 pm,but there were sooo many people drinking in and around the pool that we were afraid to take our kids in!!!They were screaming and wrestling for the next few hours!Also...thew wireless internet connection in the room kept cutting out on us,the beds were uncomfortable and aLSO HAD BURN HOLES IN THE QUILTS!!!was a cheap enough room and clean enough,but we really needed our sleep the 2nd night but didn't get it!!!!!!!

I stayed at the thunderbird this past weekend with my sister and was very satisfied. The place was clean, cheap and in a perfect location! I was skeptical at first because I didnt read all good reviews but our room was clean, had pretty comfy beds, it was close to the beach and close to many food and entertainment places. I expected an old not so clean place but definately left happy. Will recommend and will most likely be returning again!

I don't know why everybody complaing, but this motel is ok for the price. If u want Hilton service it's next door like 5 times more the price. This hotel was clean, nice pool and worth the price.

Tried calling 4 times to talk to a manager BEFORE going down to see if we could pay extra for my sister to come with the family, they kept putting off his time of arrival by 2 hours...he never called us back either IF he ever showed for work. Got down there with our family (2 rooms), minus my sister, went for ice. Put the quarter in it required, no ice. Machine was broken, the change return was broken as well. Went down to the office to tell them. The employee called the manager who in turn told him to tell me to go across the street 2 blocks to the liquor store, they sell ice. They then unwillingly offered my quarter back. I informed them that it was poor customer service. Our last night, we got new LOUD neighbors who stood outside mine and my moms room and drank beer and smoked for an hour straight from 10 to 11pm. We had my 3 yr old niece and my 2 yr old daughter in the room trying to sleep. I called the office and told them I thought "the neighbors might be locked out" since it was so loud. He told me not at all, they moved them there earlier and they were very nice and I should go ask to keep it down. When I explained my 3 yr old neice had a fever and was sleeping and we wanted her to stay that way....he said he would walk up and tell them to keep it down, he never did because I could hear every word outside the door. They must have eventually went elsewhere, then returned at 2am LOUDLY and saying they should go swimming etc. The ONLY good thing I will say about this place was all the cleaning people were very friendly and helpful. There are no coffee makers in the room, if the wireless service is available, there was NO information on it in the room. There were burn holes in the bedspread of the non-smoking rooms. It was very bad. Stayed at Casablanca last year....if I go back will go back to there or somewhere else. Would never return here and would never recommend it to anyone!!

My husband, our two small children, my mother and myself recently spent four days at Ocean City, MD, and we stayed in the Thunderbird Beach Motel. Honestly, I have no complaints (except that the pillows were a bit lumpy, and the bed springs were a bit out of shape)! The prices were reasonable, and the accommodations, while basic, were clean and more than up to our standards. Our room featured two double beds, a desk, a table with two chairs, a night stand, a small fridge with freezer compartment, a microwave, a safe and a bathroom, as well as plenty of lighting and a temperature-adjustable air conditioning unit. Everything was clean and in full working order, the staff were friendly and were always on top of things in terms of housekeeping and keeping indoor and outdoor areas clean. The motel also has a temperature regulated pool, which was accessible through one gate, whose latch was high up -- perfect for keeping children out of the pool area, or in it. The pool was clean and pristine, as were the poolside chaises and tables. Once we checked out, we were still able to access both the pool and restrooms that featured showers -- quite handy once we were finished with our last jaunt to the beach! Best of all was the close proximity to the beach -- literally a 1-2 minute walk! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially since we weren't looking for a large, luxurious suite -- just somewhere to sleep, eat and change! We would definitely make reservations again with the Thunderbird Beach Motel.

First of all I made a reservation for a handicap family member. I made it very clear that she was physically handicap and would require a first floor room. When she arrived her reservation was changed to 3rd floor without notice!!! There was not even an elevator!!! The best they could do is place her in a second floor room. The steps were made of hard concrete and extremely small which was not even wide enough for her foot and being that she has a hard time going up steps and uses a cane for everyday movement this did not make her four day stay very comfortable, in fact, she was in pain the entire time and therefore completely miserable. In addition to the room location, during the full four days there was no maid service with the exception of having to pay someone to vacuum the room. When it was requested that the sheets be changed, the housekeeper stated "I don't have time". When asked to leave sheets in the room so they could change them themselves, the maid said she would, but when they returned to the room there were no clean sheets left. In order to get towels, they had to ask night security and when they complained about not having maid service, management called in the head housekeeper and the housekeeper who was supposed to leave clean sheets and provide maid service. When the housekeepers arrived, they argued with them and called her a liar. Housekeeping claimed that they refused maid service. After all the inconvenience and lack of adequate service, all the manager offered was $40 dollars off of the entire bill which was nearly $160.00 per night for four nights.

What a way to spoil your vacation, lack of sleep from noise. The walls are paper thin, you can hear the pipes/water from showers, commodes flushing all day and night long, people talking, snoring, yelling, etc. etc. Not up-to-date, not very clean, un-friendly staff. I guess you get what you pay for, cheap is not always the way to go. If you still decide to stay here request the third floor. Only thing nice about this place was the pool, it was heated.

Look, bottom line: this place is horrendous. The rooms were unclean and untidy and my son even found a pair of used underwear under one of the beds. There was a foul stench emanating from various parts of the room and we couldn't pinpoint exactly where this foul odour was coming from. I wouldn't recommend this place to my 98 year old blind grandmother or even a group of young visiting college kids. I'll tell you why. The binocular man. Yes, this man sits in his ivory tower and like a disabled hawk watches all residents to ensure no one brings ANY guests into their room. If you do, he slams a button on his console and immediately security swoops in to evict you from the hotel and you are left wondering what just happened and why am I here. This is unacceptable. Either spend the 500 dollars a night on a luxury hotel or stay at Shenanigans instead.

Stayed here w/ my wife and 2 kids for 5 days. Decent environment w/ mix of families, elderly, and young punks. The room we were in was worn down and the plumbing/water pressure was troublesome. We had fresh/clean towels and sheets each day and the room was kept as clean as possible. The ice maker was broken for half of our stay. The pool was clean and in good condition. The staff seemed to be friendly and we had no altercations w/ any of them. This motel has great access to entertainment, shopping, food, and the beach! I think it was worth the money and would recommend it for families if you can adjust to the generally poor conditions of the rooms.

This was by far the worst place I have ever stayed in OC. Staff treated us very poorly. We were pre-evicted for "being too loud", even though they had underage kids drinking at the hotel (we were a group of 4 women in our late 20s). We let a friend use the bathroom and we recieved another warning for having an unauthorized guest in the room. They are completely unreasonable. Will NEVER stay here again. The room was dirty and smelled awlful. The only thing its good for is its proximity to the beach. I have seen dog kennels that were nicer than this place.
