Located on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean, the elegant, Mediterranean-style La Casa del Camino is a choice place to stay in Laguna. The hotel was originally built in 1927 to create a retreat for artists and movie stars; the elegant, beach-retreat flavor of the hotel remains today, as well as an exquisite Old-World charm with modern amenities. Just steps from the beach, shops, and galleries, you'll enjoy spellbinding ocean/coastal views, the lush rooftop garden, free parking, four-star dining, and much more. The property's Mediterranean architecture, European decor, and spectacular ocean views are impressive. Check out the 360-degree view on the hotel's roof deck, then wind down a staircase located behind the hotel to land on the beach--right in your backyard. Hotel guests enjoy fine dining at the hotel's K'ya, where Chef Toles prepares elegant Pacific Rim cuisine. The majority of guestrooms offer views of the Pacific Ocean, coastline, or the hotel's charming courtyard and include cable TV with free HBO and direct-dial telephones with dataports.

Shady
By Lilpiglet, 03/23/09
As OC locals, we wanted a get-away weekend, so we booked the Superior Queen Room at La Casa Del Camino, which was described as a "corner room which offers a great view of the rolling coastline, these rooms offer a little more room that the deluxe, but maintain their intimate appeal." When we got there, we had to enter through the side entrance because there was an event that day. Our promised oceanview room turned out to be a very tiny room with a small window that views the side of an adjacent building... and this was supposed to be one of the most expensive and attractive rooms available. When we spoke to the front desk, they claimed that not all superior rooms have oceanviews. We ended up insisting on a refund because we can get a better room at a motel than the "Superior" room that was assigned to us. I would have wanted to have my wedding here, but I'm concerned about their honesty.

So very nice.
By Kenny, 09/29/08
The hotel was built in 1929 so the room was small AND that is the way rooms were in 1929. The hotel was also spotless, tastefully refurbished and totally charming. When built, it was an icon of Laguna Beach and has much of that same tone today. We understand that the new owner lives on the property so it is obvious he is very hands on. The manager had just joined the staff when we visited. He is from several generations of hotel and restaurant ownership in South Africa. His old world, professional touch is also apparent. ALL of the staff were friendly, cheerful and seemed to genuinely care that we had a wonderful vacation. Jessica, at the front desk, helped us find sight-seeing attractions and great restaurants and went through their menus giving us suggestions. Others behind the desk assisted us with beach chairs and towels. Our breakfast waitress, Daniela, from Romania, was great fun. Our evening waiter, Al, walked us through the menu suggesting items and when he discovered one of us was a vegetarian brought the chef to the table and we talked about several choices not on the menu. They prepared a Tofu Steak that was out of this world. The dining room is lively at dinner. Not noisy, but certainly with an energy about it. It is right on the sidewalk and, especially at breakfast and lunch, a great place to people watch. On the roof-top are tables and chairs where you can have lunch and look out over the Pacific. An hour before sundown, it gets very busy because of the incredible vista of the sun dropping into the sea. Awesome. Our favorite cocktail, "Stuff In A Glass." Suggested by a charming waitress with a huge smile. Raspberry vodka, crushed raspberries, pineapple juice and a fruit garnish. After dinner, sip a brandy on leather couches in the lobby. Fireplace and a brand new grand piano (which should have a pianist). The steps down to the beach are about 100 yards from the door. We understand there are larger rooms with different views and next time we may try one. If friendliness and attentiveness of the staff are important to you, this is the place. If you like the nostalgia of a hotel that was an icon of Laguna Beach and want to feel appreciated, you will love La Casa del Camino.

Perfection from beginning to end
By Otto, 07/27/08
La Casa Del Camino was an overall fantastic experience. The proximity to the beach was nice, just a tiny little walk. Beautiful flower filled lobby, roof top lounge, and location. The restaurant was gorgeous and intimate with lovely outdoor patio seating, and an amazing menu. Beyond all that, the best part was the incredible service offered by the staff. Any call at any hour for anything was answered promptly and with good cheer and friendliness. Even attempting to turn down gratuity! All the staff was just more accommodating than we could have expected! We can't wait to return soon!

Wedding @ La Casa de Camino
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/08/08
My wife and I were married on the rooftop on 07/07/07. The service from our wedding/guest planner Jessica was amazing. She provided everything we asked for. The food was amazing. The room was beautiful. Friends and family still tell us it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to.

Delightful to all the senses
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/08
Just got back and the hotel was a pleasant surprise. Excellent customer service throughout (Laguna girl, amazingly friendly, and helpful) Jamie - bent over backwards and declined gratuity. Eclectic mix of old and new provide an atmosphere of a guest room, rich comforters, multi-pillows, fresh flowers. Comfortable and clean. Lobby invites you to relax and mingle; tealights, exotic flowers. A step-back-in-time furnishings mixed w/modern. Rooftop views of Laguna, for noshing, sunning and moon-bathing. 5-star restaurant. Front door rolls out to beach, shopping and art in very close proximity. Excellent location. Garbage man, way too early, but aren't they always? Rooms (we had two) were very quiet until "Jumanji" checked in upstairs. Very inconsiderate, unruly kids-blame the parents (I have my own, who know how to act when travelling) but hotel offered to accomodate us and spoke to the offenders several times. After all, we're on vacation and have a reasonable expectation of rest without all the running back and forth above our heads. I think I would of heard that in the newer hotels. Overall excellent experience and would go back tomorrow if we could.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/08
The staff is amazing. The food was fantastic. The view from the rooftop is absolutely amazing. Very romantic. Our room facing the ocean was fantastic. We fell asleep to the sound of the ocean crashing......so romantic and relaxing! The owner has done a wonderful job with this place and I highly recommend it.

Staff is Valley Girls
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/05
I had a great time there, but the staff is made up of Laguna Beach: the real series rejects who treat the guests like thier waiting in the customer service line at Macy's.

Rooms were to small and the walls were to thin. Could hear the goings on in the next room, if you know what I mean. Nice lobby and friendly staff. Would prefer somthing newer next time.
