Rainbow Adventures, Palmar sur

This lodge is exceptional for its completely secluded location - one is part of the jungle sounds in a outstanding architecture where the guests are never really inside. The mainhouse is like in a fairytale, except for some pipe problems. The bungalows on the premises were unfortunately not all in use. We (4 people) were the only guests and spent a unforgettable four days with two easy tours to the jungle, a boat trip with a local guide, great local food and relaxing and interesting atmoshphere with the owner and his staff.

I loved pretty much everythin about this place. The food was great, the service friendly, the views incredible! If you are looking for a secluded beach in the middle of nowhere..this is the place! I haven't been there for a few years, but I can't wait to go back.

There seems to be a management issue at Rainbow. We were told, the owner Michael, and his staff are at odds which makes it dicey for any visitors. We were lucky to have temporary management that was exceptional. The facility is great, and location wonderful. We did find the facility was missing any cayaks, did not provide the beer and wine, and lacked hot water. Be very careful to understand who will be running the place when you visit, and get a local contact to confirm that funding is in place for the lodge employees, food, etc.

Shortly after they had returned from Costa Rica, one of their stops being the Rainbow Lodge, my parents asked my brother & me to join them on a return trip they were planning to take the following year. I can't say enough about the whole experience. This place is so uniquely special due to the respectful attitudes towards ensuring the natural aspects of the environment. Without compromising the comforts for guests, Rainbow manages to offer an experience that is saturated with an overwhelming amount of beauty, that which only nature can offer. Because it's pretty much just you and the denizens of the jungle, "dressing" for dinner won't be a concern. Unique combinations of flavors can be found in every meal and the Costa Rican sweet tooth is present in all of the juices which accompany the meals. Knowing revenue is what it needs in order to maintain the protection and preservation of the location I worry that too much exposure may lead to exploitation and ultimately depletion of all it has to offer.
