WOW
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/07
What an amazing place. The surroundings were truly beautiful. This is where Dirty Dancing was filmed. I can't tell you what a magical place this is. The rooms were OK, but who wants to stay in a room! We loved our time in Lake Lure. It was peaceful and the leaves were in their full glory.

Awesome Stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/07
The Historic Lake Lure Inn is truly one of a kind! If you are vacationing in beautiful Lake Lure this place is a must. My girlfriend and I stayed here and enjoyed it. The Moose and Goose Bar is a great addition and the Hotel has such a historic feel to it. The history and tradition (not to mention location) make Lake Lure Inn a great place to stay.

Wonderful Thanksgiving Day!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/06
Our first visit to the Inn was most enjoyable. It was our honeymoon trip and also Thanksgiving. The staff was helpful and hospitable. Very pleasant and polite. The jacuzzi room was great! The location is magnificant! And, when the weather on the east coast was cold, widny and rainy, Lake Lure's weather was more than one could ask for! Beautiful Carolina Blue skies without a cloud in sight. 60-70 degrees on Thanksgiving! Beautiful. The Thanksgiving Buffet was a meal to be THANKFUL for!. Perfect trip with exceptional accomodations. The bar was an added plus! Thanks Lake Lure Inn for a memorable honeymoon and Thanksgiving.

Misleading and felt money hungry
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/06
First, the price of the room w/ jacuzzi was wrong on the site, only to be told it was the "old" website (takes mere minutes to update or take down a site and yet it said 2006 rates, it's January now, just how old is the site?). No apologies or suggestions for this. The room also stated a living room and you guessed it, there was none. After checking in, we went for a couples massage. My wife has had a few massages before and said her massusse wasn't trained and it wasn't very good. My massage was great. Upon paying, the cashier/manager/owner? quoted us the regular price. I asked her if that was with the 20% deduction from a flyer we had on our bed upon check-in, her response was a dumbfounded gaze. I said we had a flyer with it saying 20% off for Inn guests. Her reply, "hmmm, i guess the cleaning crew put it there by mistake". I told her the date was valid until March 31st (seems like she would know, this being her business). It seemed like she was very reluctant to take the 20% off our bill, eventhough it was the spa's own ad. Paying cash, there was $6 left over in change and she looks at us, dumbfounded again, and says, "would u like to leave the six dollars for a tip?" My wife was not satisfied with her massage at all, but is too kind-hearted to say anything and didn't feel like a tip was warranted, let alone the price of her massage, so I just said ok about the tip, and the cashier gives an almost snobbish, "Okaaaaay, so that's six dollars, that's only three for each". During our massages, the power went off and remained off till midnight. We had to ask for a candle, went to bed at 9pm, which was because of boredom. We usually go to sleep around 11 or 12, so that seemed to be a waste of our time. We understand it wasn't their fault for the power outage, but at check-out there was no apologies again and certainly no discount. The Inn itself was very charming and wonderful, if they work on the hospitality (that our beloved South is known for), it would be a great experience. Brunch and the brunch staff were wonderful.

My family loved the Inn!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/05
Our visit to the Lake Lure Inn was great! We took our two young children (who are not always particularly welcome at some resorts) and they loved it, too. The swimming pool is beautiful and we practically had it to ourselves. Right across the street is the beach and a little water park, and we could walk along the boardwalk over to the town park that goes around the lake and feed the ducks, and we rented a paddle boat at the marina. We were told when we called for our reservation that the hotel had been renovated over the winter, so we weren't sure what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised.

Don't drink the water
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/05
Room was small. The bed was way too big for the room. No room to get around. And if you drink the water in the bottle left in the room that you think is a courtesy, they charge you $10.
