Quiet and friendly
We stayed at Longfield's two nights in mid-April 2005. Our room was comfortable, if a bit on the small side. The bath was marvelous. Everything was very clean. We had a room on the front, facing the street and enjoyed waking up to the sun. The full Irish breakfast was presented nicely, but watch out for the waitress who will tell you to sit anywhere you like, but then will shoo you away from a four-top if there are only two of you. The front desk staff is very friendly, much more so than the manager, a woman who can be a bit stiff and loud.
The location is good and involves about a five minute walk to the center of activites. St Stephen's Green is very close by and we enjoyed our time there. The best part of the location is that we avoided the noise of the city by staying just a few minutes away from the heart of the city.
Dublin is typical of many European cities. It has excellent transportation systems and very poor parking. I highly recommend you rent a car on the way OUT of Dublin.
