Good Place to Stay
By ,
I stay here whenever I am in SF. Okay it isn't the Mandarin Oriental, we all know that. I like to stay here first for the price but there are several other reasons. I like to walk so I walk from there all over downtown, chinatown, fishermans whart etc. It is close to many shops and restaurants on Chestnut as well as Lombard. The rooms are clean, the staff is honest and decent, parking is free, wifi is free. I won't compare this to the highend places downtown but for the money if your motel room isn't the center of your vacation, you just need a place to stay and work out of this place is, in my opinion, really choice. You are on Lombard and Divisidero. Divisidero will take you right to GGPark, Haight, Castro, Mission District, Pacific Heights etc without any traffic or drama. Lombard of course is Hwy 101 so you can get north and south easily with this. Downtown is quick and easy, buses run by there if you don't want to drive. I love the place. I will always stay there if there are rooms available.

The place was great
By ,
I really liked the motel. It was very cute with paintings of San Francisco on the outside walls. The rooms were nice and clean also. The neighborhood was nice and safe. It was very convenient to many buses. We took the bus all over San Francisco. It is a short walk to the Marina, where there are nice running trails along the water with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is also a short walk to the Exploritorium and the Palace of Fine Arts. I stayed upstairs and it was quiet even though it was on a main street.

Really Bad
By ,
Stinky, dirty room. Unfriendly staff. Desk man hadnt showered for days (or least smelled like it). Next morning, the desk man changed his shirt, but smelled the same. Changed hotels and loved our stay with the Chelsea motor inn.

No elevator for elderly or breathing/health problems
By ,
I feel the accommodations were quite clean and comfortable, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone that arrived with any aging, breathing or health problems that may be associated with trying to move luggage up or down the stairwells with no elevators installed/available. Once we returned to our room daily, we felt we were prety much trapped until for some reason we had to venture back, once again, down to the street/office area. A restaurant within view of the Motel 8, I think it was called "Food to Go", we asked if the Motel 8 had a recommendation for this restaurant in regard to breakfast, they preferred to send us a couple of blocks away, which we decided against, but just so you know we did go to the Food to Go to restaurant for breakfast and another night for dinner and it may be simple food fare but it was most of the friendly and tasty food we experienced in this area. Another problem we had was the daily taxi fares we had to pay to get us to and from the wharf area, we assumed when we rented this accommodation from Canada that we were within walking distance from San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf area.. not so, we spent a lot of money for transportation to and from the places to be in San Francisco. Not Too Bad
By ,
I had to find a last minute room for a friend coming to town. The Super 8 worked out great. The room was very clean. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is that the traffic noise was a bit much at times.
