Big disappointment

This is an extremely expensive place that perhaps was once worth it but now seems a little tired and rundown. contrary to what we were advised when making the reservation, the non-ocean view rooms are not a good value. While we were there the restaurant was under construction which was inconvenient and also meant we were missing out on the stunning views that we were also not getting from our room. As this was our honeymoon, it seems to me they should have upgraded us to an ocean room. There were several available. The restaurant was very good the first night, but the menu was redundant on subsequent nights, which I found odd considering that most people there are not eating elsewhere. The famed service also let us down as well. I ordered breakfast and was brought dry toast (no butter) that seemed stale and a pot of coffee that was delivered in a thermos carafe that was so cheap and old that the top of the lid broke, leaving me no way to open the vacuum seal. I had ordered the coffee from room service because I made coffee in the room but the mug had been cleaned with something that made the coffee taste like pledge. I was told that housekeeping uses an organic orange oil based cleaning product in the room which must have been accidentally used on the mugs. They brought more mugs that also smelled like pledge, uncovering a slightly disturbing possibility that things are not being properly washed there. While we sat with dry toast and no coffee, we were listening to the chattering voices of the cleaning staff (a daily treat) outside our window. We decided right then and there to continue our vacation somewhere else, which we happily did.
