Big disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/07
This is an extremely expensive place that perhaps was once worth it but now seems a little tired and rundown. contrary to what we were advised when making the reservation, the non-ocean view rooms are not a good value. While we were there the restaurant was under construction which was inconvenient and also meant we were missing out on the stunning views that we were also not getting from our room. As this was our honeymoon, it seems to me they should have upgraded us to an ocean room. There were several available. The restaurant was very good the first night, but the menu was redundant on subsequent nights, which I found odd considering that most people there are not eating elsewhere. The famed service also let us down as well. I ordered breakfast and was brought dry toast (no butter) that seemed stale and a pot of coffee that was delivered in a thermos carafe that was so cheap and old that the top of the lid broke, leaving me no way to open the vacuum seal. I had ordered the coffee from room service because I made coffee in the room but the mug had been cleaned with something that made the coffee taste like pledge. I was told that housekeeping uses an organic orange oil based cleaning product in the room which must have been accidentally used on the mugs. They brought more mugs that also smelled like pledge, uncovering a slightly disturbing possibility that things are not being properly washed there. While we sat with dry toast and no coffee, we were listening to the chattering voices of the cleaning staff (a daily treat) outside our window. We decided right then and there to continue our vacation somewhere else, which we happily did.

worth every penny
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/11/07
The Post Ranch Inn is an experience everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy...whether alone or with someone special. It is truly a unique place. The service is beyond expectation and the rooms are worth every penny! I have no regrets spending the money to indulge myself. The food at the Sierra Mar is delectable. The Post Ranch Inn is a magical place.

Wish I was there now
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/07
This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Even staying there for just a weekend makes for a great escape. I think it's the ocean, the redwoods, the spa, and activities in the yurt. In the yurt, I found yoga to be just challenging enough, and I found the Shaman session (yes!) to be quite beneficial. These activities were free, as were all the snacks in the room. We've been back several times now, and loved each room. However, there can be some noise of footsteps in the butterfly lower rooms. Best American luxury inn. Also, great wine steward and chef.

A phenomenal experience well worth the money!
By Yodagrl, 03/05/06
Reluctantly, I had to leave from the Post Ranch Inn today after my weekend stay. At first, I was a bit disbelieving of all the 5 star reviews I've read of the place, including the various reviews in travel magazines about how incredible the place is. Can it really be THAT good? Well, after a weekend there, I can tell you, it's beyond good--it's absolutely amazing! The Post Ranch Inn is located in one of the most beautiful coastal areas in the world. As soon as you drive up the hill to get there, you know you are in a different place. We had a coast room with a full ocean view that was quite breathtaking. The weather was gorgeous, and just hearing the wind in the trees and the sounds of the ocean was wonderful. The room was very cozy, soothing and comfortable. Not once did we think about work or anything else over the weekend. The hotel staff was very friendly and their service was impeccable. The restaurant overlooks the ocean and the food was fantastic. Our mistake is that Pros: Location, location, location! Staff/service was impeccable. Great restaurant. Cons: None

Post Ranch Rolls
By Keith, 03/25/05
For a weekend away, there's no other place quite like it. Suggest a lunch out on the deck, hanging over the cliff which slopes down to the Pacific Ocean.

Wonderful Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/22/05
Post Ranch Inn is such a remarkable place and the staff is very kind, attentive and friendly. The moment we started our climb up the road to this hotel we knew that something special was going to change within us and we were so right. This hotel has to be the most relaxing, unobtrusive places we have ever stayed and we have stayed at numerous hotels in our lifetime. Wonderful thank you for allowing both of us to be so expressive with our thoughts.
