Will definately return!
I write this as the Euro is at it's all-time high against the Dollar, so no matter how you look at it, it will never be a good value for your money. Nevertheless, beyond that, this hotel is only fractionally less endowed than the famous parisian landmark that shares the very same walls and block around this hotel: the Hotel Plaza Athenee is in fact attached to this hotel. The Chambiges is superbly situated, only minutes away from the Champs Elysees, a brief walk from the Eiffel Tower, Trocadero, and a stone's throw from the romantic boat rides down the Seine on the Bateaux Mouches. I was there with 3 of my kids and we had a suite with a king and 2 pull-out beds, which in fact were a sofa bed and a roll-away bed. The kids enjoyed their beds, the sofa bed was an overgrown one, and my King was just fine even shared with my youngest, albeit no "number bed". The room was very clean, and the room was serviced every day we were there, albeit not at a regular time. It was very helpful to turn the key back over to the concierge and announce that you woud be out for X amount of time, thus giving them the heads-up to clean your room during that time. This worked perfectly. The bathroom was clean, modern, quite functional, and the toilet was in a seperate space and had a seperate door, very helpful as one child tries to brush his teeth while the other "must go".
The hotel is surprisingly quiet. I only once noticed a baby crying through the courtyard outside our window, and I couldn't even tell you for sure that it originated at our hotel.
There is of course no restaurant in the hotel and there is therefor no room service. There is however a minibar in the room, and a safe, but i recommend not touching the minibar and strolling out the front door, to the left, maybe 200 meters away there's an "epicerie" where you can buy drinks, food, etc...
Breakfast is however included and is served in an informal little room just off the lobby. At times, this little room with maybe 8 tables was quite crowded as people from the small hotel seemed to all appear simultaneously for breakfast. Breakfast is not a "hot one" but rather croissants, pain-au-chocolat, breads, jams, cereal, juices and coffee. It's self serve buffet style. A staff member cleans off the tables.
However, with the sheer amount of restaurants surrounding the hotel, one could easily state that there's simply no need for one IN the hotel. Dozens of restaurants, providing foods from all continents line the streets around this hotel and you would be hardpressed to not find what you are looking for in the immediate vicinity of this hotel.
To conclude my long winded comments, this hotel is great! I will definately return here until further notice. The staff were cordial, extremely helpful, and couteous. The hotel is luxurious in an old style, yet properly maintained and clean. It's very quiet while only minutes by foot from many parisian landmarks, shops, restaurants, cinemas, and theatres.
Internet access is available but not provided by the hotel, however you will have to purchase a card from the front desk which will allow you to connect to the local WiFi hotspot.
The only killer here is the Euro... but I suppose that's the case with all hotels.
