Excellent Experience at the Renaissance

I have traveled to NY many, many times for work so I was cautious about staying in Times Square. (frankly embarrassed to tell my friends where we wre staying as they all feel small intimate out of the way hotels are the way to go) But this trip I as purely going as a tourist and I had my husband and two sons age 11 and 15 in tow. Having a centrally located hotel with access to Central Park, MoMA, the subway, theatre etc was important to us. Well I was thrilled with the hotel. It was intimate in scale and very quiet. Our room was lovely. It was spacious. The hotel was very recently renovated and in great condition and tasteful(of the modern variety). In the room there was plenty of drawer space for storing clothing, plenty of walk about space(plenty of room for all 4 of us) and the bathroom was great. It had a big tub, attractive tile, up to date shower head and the sink area had a wall to wall granite countertop! Thrilling to be able to put my toiletries on the counter ! There was a large closet, a few more shelves, a mini bar and a large flat screen TV. The room had a great view of 7th Avenue. Yet was quiet, no street noise at all. The concierge(Divina) was very helpful and attentive. The 2 Times Square restaurant breakfast was very good(actually delicious) and the waiter was kind, attentive and great with suggestions.
Location totally worked for us. The Theatres were all close by. So was the half price ticket booth. The subway to Battery Park was very easy to access, very economical. OUr walk about to 5th Avenue(saw the Columbus Day parade) was easy, the walk to Central Park was easy and the travel down to ChinaTown, Soho etc was all very accessible yet we could be back to the hotel in time to rest a bit before the easy 5 minute walk to the theater by 8:00 pm. So 2 thumbs up for us. Very pleased with this hotel and the accomodations.
