50 reviews for Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel, New York City
Excellent Experience at the Renaissance
By barbara, 10/14/08
I have traveled to NY many, many times for work so I was cautious about staying in Times Square. (frankly embarrassed to tell my friends where we wre staying as they all feel small intimate out of the way hotels are the way to go) But this trip I as purely going as a tourist and I had my husband and two sons age 11 and 15 in tow. Having a centrally located hotel with access to Central Park, MoMA, the subway, theatre etc was important to us. Well I was thrilled with the hotel. It was intimate in scale and very quiet. Our room was lovely. It was spacious. The hotel was very recently renovated and in great condition and tasteful(of the modern variety). In the room there was plenty of drawer space for storing clothing, plenty of walk about space(plenty of room for all 4 of us) and the bathroom was great. It had a big tub, attractive tile, up to date shower head and the sink area had a wall to wall granite countertop! Thrilling to be able to put my toiletries on the counter ! There was a large closet, a few more shelves, a mini bar and a large flat screen TV. The room had a great view of 7th Avenue. Yet was quiet, no street noise at all. The concierge(Divina) was very helpful and attentive. The 2 Times Square restaurant breakfast was very good(actually delicious) and the waiter was kind, attentive and great with suggestions. Location totally worked for us. The Theatres were all close by. So was the half price ticket booth. The subway to Battery Park was very easy to access, very economical. OUr walk about to 5th Avenue(saw the Columbus Day parade) was easy, the walk to Central Park was easy and the travel down to ChinaTown, Soho etc was all very accessible yet we could be back to the hotel in time to rest a bit before the easy 5 minute walk to the theater by 8:00 pm. So 2 thumbs up for us. Very pleased with this hotel and the accomodations.

C'mon People TIMES SQUARE!
By Victoria, 05/07/08
If you're going to NYC to stay IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM the ENTIRE STAY, then you're a pretty big loser to begin with! But if you want location to be central in Midtown Manhattan, close to EVERYTHING and with a heavenly BED to sleep in at night, then LOOK NO FURTHER. Don't eat at the restaurant here, don't loiter in their lounge - it is a HOTEL - get out in the Big Apple and TAKE A BITE! This hotel is terrific - great experience and CLEAN. So what if it has a funky, modern decor? Ok... so there's 2 elevators to take you to your room... and the problem is???? Who cares? The desk clerks are as nice as you WANT them to be - not a problem! I would recommend this hotel to ANYONE who needs a clean, comfy stay in NYC.

Im going to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/19/08
I love this hotel so much! I went in 2006, before it had the makeover, and i thought it was good. I just got back from there last week and the new design is very modern and catchy and the hotel staff, especially Omar the concierge, are very very helpful. The restaurant serves tasty food and the view from the restaurant is spectacular! The rooms are excellent as the beds are the comfiest ive ever stayed in before, the plasma tvs are massive (for hotels) and all in all the rooms are modern and you feel very compfy and at home. The hotel situated in the heart of times square and is a short distnce to most land marks! WELL WORTH THE MONEY! Deffinately reccomend. Thanks

construction and disorganization go hand in hand
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/08/07
We did a spontaneous trip to NYC in February 2007 because we were given access to a box at the Garden for the Westminster Dog Show. I called the Renaissance on the way to the airport. Because everything was so last minute, I didn't want to mess around with trying to find a suitable hotel. We have a Renaissance here in our hometown and it is always perfect, imagine my shock when we pulled our own bags into the entry area (no, I will not be able to call it a lobby, at least not when we saw it) After finding the check-in area, which was in an even greater remotely distant location due to the massive amounts of construction going on all around us. Our room was not at all up to par with the standards of what I have come to expect from a Renaissance Hotel. I was only paying a small amount for 3 days, I was using the entire balance of my Marriott "points" to pay for the bulk of the charges and when you do that you have to "prepay." My points were already deleted from my account and I hadn't even stayed there yet. There was so very much construction, dull rooms that need a visit from the Extreme Makeover team; within 7 minutes of checking in, we wanted to check out. I was promised I would get my points back since this was a situation of "lack of full disclosure on their behalf" I am still arguing with the hotel about my points. Also, just to put it out there... if you can believe it, one of the nicest Renaissance Hotels is in downtown Pitsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is sleek and sexy, kinda what I was expecting from the NY version. This is probably the least helpful review for anyone ( I am sorry) but I do feel better now.

pleasant...great little fitness center...would stay there again without hesitation. You cannot beat the location--affordable places to eat within walking distance(as well as the higher priced establishments), and the concierge was most helpful, above all it was a week that restored my faith in New York City! They couldn't have been nicer...and, as the souvenirs all proclaim, I Love New York!!!
