OVER BOOKED - GIVE RESERVED ROOMS AWAY FOR TIPS!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/22/07
On July 20, 2007, I arrived at the hotel to find that "Jim" gave our room to someone that he claimed was more important than us.
My wife booked a large suite in MAY for this day. She also booked several other rooms for other members of our extended family. The one room we needed was a large suite for 5 of our children (some over 18), so we made sure this room would be saved for us and my wife spoke for a long time with Jim making sure everything will be in place when we arrive on July 20. We left our credit card to secure the room. He promised everything will be in place when we arrive and we believed him.
When we arrived on July 20, "Jim" told us that he had to give the suite to someone else. Upon prying into how that could happen, he said that if an important business customer comes along, the hotel has to cater to them... its just good business for the hotel. He said that there was nothing he could do about it and offered a 10% discount on a standard room. Big deal. I could have got the 10% off anyways.
I guarantee, that is NOT good business for the hotel.
What was the most irritating thing that Jim said is, "its not our fault". WHAT! Whose fault is it?
Signed... not an important person (according to Saskatoon Country Inn & Suites)
