Loved It -- Golf was Great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/07
My husband and I celebrated his bday there quite some time ago--Aug.'01, did the golf package. Did the Temecula Wineries on Sat., ended the day at Thornton Winery for dinner. Stayed at Castle Creek so we didn't have to drive back to Mission Valley after drinking all day. We golfed on Sunday. The Golf Pro in the Shop recognized my Hawaiian bracelet and discovered we were both originally from Hawaii. It was cool. I have to say, the hotel was quaint, loved the peace and serenity, but the service wasn't that outstanding. I do remember the house on the 10th hole that can be rented -- now THAT would be waaaay cool ...of course all of this took place BEFORE Baby --

Nice time, nice weather, nice people
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/25/05
It was a nice hotel, very quiet and clean. We were amazed at the lack of focus from the desk staff, though. Twice in the first three days we were asked if we were checking in by the same employee who checked us in the day before. The spa services were great, the golf course does wonders for the handicap and the food was great.

Nice, romantic Resort Spa
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/31/04
A tasteful, secluded resort with good spa and golf. The place is very romantic, with scenic surroundings and fun attractions nearby. Reccommended.

Mr Bill Review:
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/04
My wife and I were looking for a nice romantic getaway close to home. I found Castle Creek hotel on line and after reading the reviews, I was a little mixed myself. With my wife being the brave one, we were in for another Bill & Leslie adventure. We live in Orange County so we took the 5 South to the 76 East. We got an early start and stopped at San Onofre (Basoline exit) and parked at Trail 6 and went for a morning power walk. I strongly recommend this for this is one of the states most beautiful beaches. We arrived at Castle Creek around 12 just in time to get checked in and ready for our massages, we did the couples massage and while the hotel promotes its self as a spa it falls short of the spa amenities that we have seen at other spa resorts. However the massage rooms were clean and quiet and the misuse were skilled. If I could say anything the whole resort was very clean and quiet with some of the most beautiful grounds I have seen. One reviewer suggested a picnic basket and that was a great idea the hotel has a soda and candy machine out by the pool but that’s it… Bring snacks and drinks, there is no room service. Another reviewer said there was no restaurant at the resort and that’s true but a 100 yard walk yields the Circle R restaurant in which we had a very nice dinner and breakfast the next morning. So my take, Castle Creek was a great romantic getaway close to home and well worth the price. However don’t expect the frilly things you might expect at some other resorts. There is no room service and anything from towels to the key for the hot-tubs you will need to get yourself. The grounds, room, pool and hot-tubes were awesome we will be going back with cooler, cheese and crackers in tow.

Simple Elegance
By Laura, 07/02/04
If you're looking for a place to rekindle your Love. This may be the place for you. We stayed 6/27/04 in their mini King Suite. The grounds were clean and beautiful as you would expect for a 5 star resort. The pools were clean. The room was a step back in time, to simple Elegance. No electronic door locks, wide screen T.V.'s, electronic games, microwaves or refrigerators, so I dont recomend you bring today's high tech kids. They will get bored. But if you are looking for a romantic getaway, pack the picnic basket, maybe the ice chest and go back in time when life was less stressful.
A little note; the country club Resturant is not open 24/7 and it is a bit of a drive into Escondido so I strongly recommend that picnic basket!
