Dishonest Establishment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/20/11
The hotel room wasn't the cleanest and the curtains were partly detached. The biggest issue that I found was with the honesty. I mistakenly left a video camera in the room and called back after checkout, but was quickly told that no camera had been found in the lost and found. This leads me to believe that the device was quickly claimed by the cleaning staff and not honestly placed in the lost and found where it belonged.

Not Great for the Price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/9/11
They charge a premium price and don't deliver for the special immensities. For $279 a night they offered 2 free bottles of water and a chocolate bar. The fruit was damaged or half ripe; I only found a few pieces that were good. They offered more packaged cookies than anything really good. We were there for mothers day asked for early check-in; requested it with the reservation and called before we left to make sure we had early check in at noon. When we checked in they said it would be 2 hours before our room was ready and they would call, they never called. Went back after 2.5 hours - room still not ready. We checked in after 4pm. They said the early check in was only a request - they can't guarantee anything. My husband reserved a "room with a balcony and overlooking the water". They only have 3 floors - we were on the 2nd floor and the only view we had were of the air conditioning units. The back of the hotel over Ruth Chris Steak house - all of the rooms over look the air conditioners - ridiculous. There is no view of the water unless you count the puddles on the roof. When we checked in we used the valet to park the car, we didn't know there was more than one place to park. The hotel gave us a parking voucher the next morning, because of the inconvenience, but it was for the parking garage about a block away not the valet. Knowing as much as they do about the area they should have told us there was a difference. They could give us directions to a 7-eleven and to a place to get breakfast but the parking they forgot. Breakfast wasn't complementary either, $9-$11 per person again half rotten fruit and a few muffins.

Not Worth the Money
By E, 7/26/10
My husband and I decided to take an overnight trip to the Baltimore Inner Harbor. We selected this hotel based on it's location relative to the Aquarium. While it was close, there were many other hotels in the same area. We paid over $300 for the one nights stay. Parking was not included, we had to park across the street at the Pier 5 parking facility. We checked in at 2:00 p.m. and left the next day at 3:00 p.m. Parking cost us $39!!! Our room was clean, however the cleaner used had an unpleasant smell and was very intense (gave me a headache). We ordered our Acquarium tickets through the hotel service. They were $1 cheaper per ticket and had VIP service. When we got to the museum, we were told that the tickets did not include the 4D show and we had to pay an extra $5 each (so, the tickets ended up costing us $8 more than if we had purchased them from the Acquarium directly). On the day or our departure, room service came through at 8:10 a.m. and began knocking on our door. Our checkout time was at 12:00, what would possess them to start knocking at 8:10? The only positive about the hotel was that they offered a Crabby Hour from 5:30-6:30 pm. The cook prepared a crab themed recipe, it included free beer and wine.

What a great time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/9/09
We had such a great time at the Pier 5 what can I say Tje location is great right next to the national aquarium in Baltimore. It was like walking right outside a few feet and then wow. Which the aqurium was great the jelly exhibit was awesome! Then we had dinner at ruth chris's steakhouse LOCATED AT THE HOTEL. I can not tell you how good it was you have to experience. To top it off was the power plant. We get back to our room and the hotel has this simple indulgence things GDIVA CHOCOLATE'S FOR 9.95!!! I could not believe it. I definately had such a great time. Next time we plan on making it for 4 nights so we can go to more of the area!

Unsure
By David, 10/12/09
I stayed there twice. The first time the service was great, the room clean and the breakfast good. I could not wait to go back. The second time I went I had booked the room four months in advance. Two beds. When I got there I was given a room with one bed. I complained and was told there is nothing they could do. I pointed out that I specifically made a reservation months in advance for that reason and I was told that there were no rooms available try back the next day. I complained a few hours later to someone else and was immediately given a room with two beds and a broken toilet. I complained, fixed the toilet myself. They did knock $50 off the bill.

Not sure I'd go back..
By Vicki, 3/28/08
The location is GREAT!! The hotel is average on service-the front desk did charge our blackberry at no charge which was nice since we forgot the charger but the cleanliness is questionable...I found a bath towel with human waste on it-as if it had missed the wash all together but it was still nicely folded in the room. Who does that?? Gross!! Hum, the biggest deal was the hidden cost...they don't tell you about the $9 bottle of water and the morning paper you are required to pay for-it doesn't matter if you never touch the water and decline the paper -it's a cost you must pay. Not sure I'd go back...the human waste on the towel and the expensive water and newspaper are not worth it in the long run!!

Not worth returning to.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/3/07
Liked: most of staff nice (the rest were indifferent) Liked: food served at conference:good Disliked: faucet in room- handle broken Disliked: internet not connected- I had to connect via a long phone call to a techie, and had to crawl under the desk to complete the task. It is still broken. Disliked: Harbor Club cold @ 50 degrees ( a/c had been turned on) Disliked: sound system in Harbor Club didn't work; a new mike had to be brought in, and that never consistantly worked There was no 'magic' at the Pier 5 Hotel

I would never go back to this place.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/07
Web site and info from hotel when contacted lead you to believe that this is a fantastic place. NOT! The hotel is slighly grungy. Noticed right away that the furniture and floor in the lobby was not clean. Boxes cluttered to the side of the elevator. Furniture in the room the same; dirty. Obviously, this hotel does not have a sufficient budget to maintain their facilitites. We had a suite with breakfast included. I would not call it a suite. The breakfast was awful. I am a breakfast person and I was turned off by the poor quality. The meats were greasy and there were few choices in breads. What ticked me off the most was the $21.00 per day to park my car. Come on. Baltimore is not NYC.

Never again
By Susan, 9/17/06
Alot of hidden costs...never told that we had to pay for parking...28.00 per day. Destination Fee that was charged that we were not told about till after the fact of 9.95 per day. It included the “free” crabby hour that the Pier 5 hotel offered, newspaper daily (financial times, USA today), long distance calls, internet connection, 2 bottles of water a day. My husband and I were on vacation not a business trip so we didn’t want or need any of these, but we were told this charge would not be waived and that it is just a standard charge. So technically, we got two bottles of water a day in our room, for what amounted to almost 5.00 per day. We purchased the ultimate experience package, which during check in were told the tickets were going to be in our room. they were not, had to go back downstairs to lobby and they assured us when we return from the activity we were going to, it would be in our room, got back 6 hours later and still not there, called downstairs and they told me I had to call the next morning....finally we got our tickets the next morning. Also, got stuck in the emergency exit stairwell Right across from our room was a door that stated on it, door locks behind you exit on the first floor. Went to first floor and door was locked, luckily called my husband on cell and he came to get me. Told the front desk about it, their response was well it’s locked because it’s an ememrgency exit, I suggested they state that on the door, the woman at the desk just shrugged and went to answer the phone. Because of the hidden costs and the lack of helpfulness of the staff, we will not be returning and we will tell others of this bad experience.

Honeymoon Disaster
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/17/06
My husband and I went to Baltimore for our Honeymoon. We had booked a room for 3 nights. We showed up on our wedding night and after an hour of waiting (in my wedding dress no less) at the front desk, they informed us that they had over booked themselves. There were no rooms available for us to stay in. We had our room booked for at least 4 months. So they sent us to a "sister" hotel, that costs less than we paid there (however, there was no money returned) and the new room had only a small bed with no fitted sheet. I would never recommend this hotel to others!
