Older hotel with wonderful service
I spent 4 months there recently on a consulting assignment. From the outside, it looks like an older hotel, and it is away from I-57. However, the quality and service is on the caliber of a Las Vegas resort! The hotel has been upgraded, and it is a true work in process. There are places that need coats of paint or new carpet. However, if there is any problem with your stay, you can go to the front desk, and it will be taken care of within 24 hours. I would recommend that the Choice Hotels chain should use this hotel as a training ground for other hotels.
The price of the room includes a homemade hot breakfast (eggs, sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy), an in-room coffee maker, and Expanded Basic cable (the same channels you would receive if you had a house in the area). The suites are made up of one of the old motel rooms (which opened to the outside) and the adjoining hotel rooms. They are spacious and lovely.
As a long-term customer, I felt like I was at a college dormitory--the staff made me feel at home, even though I was far from home. If you are going to see the Chicago Bears or have to work in the area, I highly recommend this hotel.
