Wonderful Hotel
By Kathryn, 4/29/07
I had an incredibly pleasant stay at this hotel. My company booked it for me and everything was top notch. The room was clean and elegantly appointed. The bathroom was nice enough to make me wish I were staying longer. I ate out, so did not experience the cuisine. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Shanghai.

great hotel but...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/25/04
This is a wonderful stop in Changhai but it needs leadership to bring it to 5 star standards. With the right expertise this could be the best in town. I will stay there if the perfection occurs.

Jinjiang Towers Hotel - the Best!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/22/07
This hotels is not only value for money and a great location in Shanghai - but the hotel itself is superb. You couldnt ask for better service or amenities. We paid $200 per room per night which we thought was cheap - when we got back we rebooked and got it for $150 per room per night - talk about happy! The hotel is along side the Peoples Square area which is probably the best place to base yourself - you have the Bund and Yu Gardens not too far away. If anyone is planning a holiday in Shanghai - book here - you wont be disappointed.

Avoid at all costs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/11/06
This is dreadful hotel, the carpets are filthy, the rooms cleaned in the minimum of time, hair in the plugholes of the sink and bathtub. Ask for a non smoking table at buffet breakfast, again carpets and chairs filthy, expect to have guests at the next tables smoking. This is a 2 star hotel with 5 star pretensions, I moved out after 2 nights, refused to stay, the room also has exposd wiring.

Very good but....
By cosimoc, 10/24/08
I stayed there in October 2008 for 9 nights. The hotel is nice and conveniently located the rooms have just been renewed and are very nice and clean. I tried the room service, they where fast and the food was good. The revolving restaurant is average and the food at the buffet is monotonous and repeats from day to day… Since I got to eat there 2 or 3 times this was disappointing. But in any case the food quality was good. The bar (located at the roof, above revolving restaurant) is OK, I just had a small discussion on how a Gin FIZ should be made…  but that is just me being picky… I guess! Breakfast is OK but not at the level of other five stars Hotels in Asia, The gym (on the 6th floor) was clean but small and the machines where old… but in good working order. Did not try the pool or the sauna which are located at the same floor. Gym is open from 6 am to 2 am, the SPA instead closes at 10.30 The overall service was within standards and everything would have been fine but unfortunately the surprise came at the checkout! I was there with a delegation and when we checked out all delegates had free internet included in the price… I did not!! The price for the room was the same for all of us I just did not have the internet included! They said that it was their mistake during Check in they gave me a room on the wrong floor … but did not discount the internet… I just had to pay… Very very unpleasant! The Hotel at the end is OK but next time I’ll probably try a different one

You can find a better value
By Tsu-Wang, 8/20/06
This is an old hotel. It is a FIVE star hotel judging only by the public area. But, the carpet in the room is filthy. The decor is old. The bed is too hard for westeners. The TV was old and the volume didn't work in my room. Also the water has a very strange moldy smell. But it may be due to the municipal water system. Overall it is 2 star hotel with five star public area. Also don't try the breakfast. It is 184 RMB (Aug 2006). It is very lousy and they serve a lot of canned fruits with little fresh fruits.

Bed as HARD as a Tennis court
By Jacqueline, 11/25/06
Everything in the hotel is pretty good. Service is excellent. The food is OK and expensive. I stick mainly to their american breakfast as other items are not so good. I dont like what oil they fry eggs in really but everything else is fine. Hambergers taste homemade as in they dont have it right really...dont know where they get cheese from. The chinese food they have is always sold out.. so havent had much time to try. Maybe its the best. Anyway. what has made this hotel so deplorable is the bed. Its HARD. I mean no flexibility at all. Just think of any of your favorite concrete surfaces and lie a wool blanket on it.

The best Value in Shanghai for the Money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/19/05
Great hotel in the best areas of Shanghai shopping areas, centrally located in the centre of the city. The hotel to make itself even more acceptable to international cliental has hired expatriate managers to run this ship. The Chinese owners must recognise the value for the long term!

A nice place to stay in my favorite city
By KT, 9/9/04
The Jin Jiang is one of the nicer hotels in Shanghai. Bear in mind that a five-star in China is not the same as a five star in the U.S. But the Jin Jiang has a great buffet breakfast (excellent selection, good quality), English speaking staff, and clean, modern rooms. One tip: because cabs in Shanghai are so cheap (about a buck), when I'm out shopping, I just take one back to the hotel any time I need to use the restroom. It's worth it.
