The Westin Southfield Detroit, Southfield

The hotel was great. The room was great. The food was great. The pool was great. The service was great. I would stay here again.

I usually go to this hotel a couple times a year, just to get away and relax, since I have four chidren, and the beds are great. Myself and my eldest daughter who is 18, went for our much-needed stay... We wnt into room, and beds looked wonderful, but I noticed that things seemed rather dusty... Okay, no biggie. My daughter later that night opened up fridge to put her water in, and somone left a piece of pie inside frige- which tells me housekeeping isnt very detaled, especailly since seeing dust all over phone and clock radio. All this wasnt really a big-deal, but I hoped they at least kept the beds nice and clean, and they did. We stayed up late chatting, and I fell asleep late, and my daughter stayed up even later. I hear a pounding to the point, it wakes me up. I was dreaming at the time, and was in a deep sleep, so I physically didnt move, but could hear this atrusive pounding... I then hear the osund of the room key being swiped, and the door jarring, simply because I had put the security latch on the night before. hearing the room key swipe; i knew at that moment it had to be housekeeping, but do not remember hearing a voice... Usually they say "housekeeping", but she proabley felt that since she beat the door down; no one was in room. I got up, and was kind of dissarayed from being awoken ion that manner. I knew what happened and looked at clock and the clock said 8:50a.m.. Now, I am getting mad... I get dressed and open door and see housekeeping cart directly across the hall and person is in other room. I go down to main lobby, and aks them what time is check out, because seemed odd/rude for anyone to want to get in that early to clean room and to d it in such a manner. They tell me check out is at 12:00noon. I explain what happened, and also tell the front counter woman that I cant imagine the housekeeper would be so adamant about getting into room, since it wasnt all that clean. I told her there was so much dust on phone; I hated to pick it up, but then again- phone didnt work, and neither did hot tub jets in pool area. The woman asked me if I wanted free breakfast, and I told her no; I wanted to relax, and it was too late to go back to sleep, because once I am up; I am up. The hotel is nice, but doesnt offer anything extra ( breakfast-bar/coffee), so the things they do have- should work properly and be clean and staff needs to use common sense. Place is not cheap, so this is why I think they have gone down in quality.

I read one bad review and all I could think was what hotel did you stay at? This hotel has the best service of any hotel I have ever been in. The last time I stayed there my key did not work when I got to my room. A manager personally came to me and gave me another key. Then he bought me dinner for the inconvenience! I love their service!!! The hotel is beautiful and yes the beds are absolutely wonderful. I actually have a catalog from the hotel and am planning on purchasing the "Heavenly Bed" for my home. Honestly it should be a crime for a bed to be that comfortable!!! Keep up the good work Westin! You do have loyal customers like me!

Where do I start?! I got a great rate for the weekend. The room was very nice and comfy. The parking was extremely convienient and safe. The lobby and other portions of the building were elegant and inviting. The location was very convieniently close to where I had to be for my weekend. I wish there were more selections for eating for my family and myself closer to the hotel, but what we had wasn't bad at all. This is a definite do again if I ever need to.

I love the shower heads the beds were too small. No table in the room. The window opens which is dangerous for small children. Room service was not good. I had to wait until 6pm to get service. The noise level. Too much dust. The ice machine was broken throughout my stay. Parking was not good. Overall the service was not what I expected.

The Westin has what they call the 'Heavenly Bed', and they are not kidding. Anytime I go to the Detroit area, this is the ONLY hotel I can stay in. That bed is something else. I had the best sleep ever in those beds. And the service is excellent. The hotel is clean and I have stayed there numerous times and have nothing bad to say about it. Highly recommended! :)

Want to get a really, really good night's sleep? Laying in a Westin bed is the surest recipe for not wanting to do another thing for the next several hours. Their restaurant is good and the front desk staff are polite, but I go back there time and time again because I have never experienced such a comfortable bed. 'Nuff said.

I have stayed in four star hotels around the world such as the Wardolf Astoria in Manhattan, NY, and this was the best hotel I've visited so far. The bed alone was worth the trip. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
