Baymont Inn & Suites Tampa near Busch Gardens/USF, Tampa

We spent 6 nights, great experience, clean room, friendly staff for the most part (everyone has a bad day now and then). Crystal clean pool. Only downfall is the bar right next to the pool, otherwise it's a great place for guests of all ages.

This hotel was so close to Bush Gardens we could have walked, but chose to take the free shuttle and save $13 we would have paid to park at the amusement park. We arrived to a friendly staff, clean room (very large for our family of 6), and terrific amenities! The pool is amazing and there is a bar where you can watch your children and enjoy ordering a night cap after a long day of fun. Our oldest two sons had fun playing pool at one of two table in the hotel's open garden pool/bar area. We really enjoyed our 2 night stay...yes, it is a little out dated (decor/building), but worth more then we paid to stay here...I'd pay $20 to $50 more then we did.

April 9, 2010 Busch Gardens should be ashamed of themselves for rating this hotel as a "preferred hotel". Rented two rooms for a ten night stay. First room was roach infested, the sink was clogged and the springs of the club chair came out the bottom when my grandson (58lbs) sat on it! Rooms were changed immediately but since the rooms were paid in full in advance, the only compensation was a free movie ($15 value). New room #1: toilet needed ½ hour to refill before you could flush again, a/c was set by hotel at 76 (maintenance needed to reset), poor water pressure. New room #2: a/c set at 63 by hotel (maintenance needed to reset), shower head was so loose it could not be adjusted, poor water pressure, refrigerator never got cold. The breakfast room was a sauna (we had to eat at a nearby restaurant), the floor of the elevator felt like you were going to fall through in spots and requested wake up calls never came. The room keys did not work two days in a row and the reason given was that they were kept too near a cell phone. The person holding the keys DOES NOT OWN a cell phone! Oh, there is a $1.50 daily fee for the room safe, simply because it’s in the room (you do not have to use it to be charged)!

This hotel provided us with the absolute worst customer service that my family has ever experienced. Eight of us were trapped in one of the hotel's elevators for 25 minutes. No one on property knew emergency procedures, and we were treated horribly when we finally made it out, in large part to my husband who recently had back surgery. The only words offered by the General Manager was "My insurance will handle this." A fun trip for our children to Busch Gardens turned into a nightmare. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

My family and I stayed here and shortly after check in, we got stuck in the outside elevator in the Florida 100 degree heat. We had to call the front desk clerks twice from inside the elevator for help and call 911 on our own. After asking the front desk clerk for immediate help as we had 8 people in the elevator (5 children and 1 claustraphobic person) and it was extremely difficult to breathe due to the heat, the front desk clerk HUNG UP ON US. This was the only contact we had to the outside. The maintenance guy didn't know how to get us out and no one came to help him. After 25 minutes we finally got out thanks for my brother-in-law inside the elevator. Once the door opened, we had to be lifted out over 4 ft. of concrete because we were stuck between floors. Paramedics had to be called. Once in the lobby, the clerk at first said she didn't hang up on us, then changed her story saying she did because she was new and wasn't trained for emergency situations. We had to wait 1 hour to speak to the general manager because there was no manager on site. We had to ask for water from the front desk people -- they didn't even offer. The GM came into the lobby and never asked how we were, apologized for the situation, etc... After we told him about what happened and how we were treated, he had no comment and basically said that the items that were damaged as we were getting out -- "that's what insurance is for." (which we still haven't heard from). He didn't offer to cover our room for the night -- we had to tell him we're not paying for it. At first he said that would be our responsibility to take it up with the booking agent. We have never experienced such awful customer service. They do not care about their guests. While we were in the lobby, at least 3 other people came in to complain about their stay. The facilities were dirty and smelled bad, the electrical plugs in the rooms didn't work, we had people randomly knocking on our door all night and the breakfast was uneatable. Save your money and take your family somewhere where they will be safe and treated well.

loved the room with separate sitting room and sofa bed, however bar/restaurant service as terrible. Took us over 90 minutes to get food order and we were the only ones in the place eating. We ordered at 7:00 pm and it didn't arrive till around 8:30 pm. Food was not very good either. They then overcharged on the bill by about 25 dollars. Would recommend this hotel for room and hotel staff. Just stay away from the bar/restaurant area.

This place was great! I was considering changing my reservation to a different hotel after reading some comments; however, I am glad I didn't. The room was big and very clean. Shower had hot water! The pool was great for kids and the bar was right next to it so parents could enjoy drinks while still keeping an eye on the children. The staff was very friendly and even printed out our boarding passes for us when we checked out. The location is excellent....Busch Gardens is less than a mile. Lots of places to eat and grocery store nearby. I will stay again with my family. The hotel was a great value for the money.

This place looked great once you arrived. The pool and outdoor activities seemed real inviting. Even the bedrooms/suites looked nice; however, they were bug infested. Our room had tiny bugs all over the table, our towels,and the telephone. I was scared to go to sleep, because I thought there might be bugs in the covers. Their continental breakfast was a joke. The milk was served hot and sat out from 6am-10am when breakfast ended and there were roaches walking on the fruit basket. I receieved a refund. The health department needs to take a visit over there.

After a long trip (700 miles) this hotel was just what I needed!! The staff was very friendly and polite and the room was very clean and comfortable! The hotel had every amenity necessary and the on-site restaurant was an added bonus (after being in a car for so long not having to leave for food was great!). I will be traveling back to this area alot in the future and this will definately be my first choice! Thanks for a job well done!!!

Great for this price! The sofa bed mattress is really bad and need replacement. (My kids did not complain since they are small but for adult, your back can touch the floor if you sleep on it!!!).
