Remodel in progress - wait for it to be done.

Staff is friendly but the hotel is being remodeled. Its not a great experience to stay there in the process.

Turmoil
By Tom, 9/18/10
Management is awful. I stayed there back in Dec. 2009 when the fat guy (Carmine) was the General Manager there. Then in Feb 2010 they had some pompous Indian running the place (right into the ground). I was there again in early July (holiday weekend) and there was a very sweet General Manager there. I think her name was Karen or Kathy, she worked so hard to try to please the guests and remained calm in a very tense situation with an obnoxious guest. She apologized for things that she had no control of. The place is apparently run on a shoestring budget but her confidence, customer service, genuine concern and empathy made her shine. I happily went back in August and was shocked that she was no longer there. The place is in constant turmoil, smells and is infested with bugs. The pool is gross, rooms have mold on the walls and the basement meeting rooms smelled had peeling wall paper and lovely black mold. The restaurant was fair - the chef (a little Indian woman) was really nice and the meals were decent. I find it amazing that any chain would have them representing their name. They should be a motel six or something and the rate should be at $39 or $49 per night - vs the range that has been from $79 to $109. This would make a great animal hospital or homeless shelter but I would NEVER stay there again. They should be monitored closely by the health department.

Great Customer service.
By TracyG, 3/3/09
After having a long drive in the clerk that checked me in was very quick and nice. I wanted to just go to bed and the bed was comfortable and room was clean. Then I woke up and forgot a couple of things and housekeeping kindly supplied it for me. Check out was very fast and she always seemed to have a smile. I would definatly stay again.

Weekend Stay & Wedding Reception
By KATHLEEN, 10/13/08
The customer service is terrible. The Wedding reception was so disorganized, the food was not what we taste tasted, and ten minutes before the end of the reception the dessert and wedding cake was served. Open bar that ran out of beer selected for wedding reception! prices look good but think about quality!

An absolute dive.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/1/08
I have seen alot of this hotel, various rooms, common areas, and the restaurant, and this hotel is decrepit. The a.c. units are at least twenty years old by the looks of them(by the way i've stayed four times, and two of which the a.c. was broken), there are holes and scuffs all over the walls, locks on doors don't work, and i have even seen a bug that strikingly resembled a cockroach on my wall. For $120.00, you could get a far more reliable and more overly comfortable room down the street.

I will never stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/08
This was the hardest hotel to make a reservation. I could not get into the block of rooms that were reserved. Also two of my rooms got cancelled. The rooms were smoking and very dirty, instead of non-smoking. We were five floors away from the rest of my party. I made a complant to the manager. The only thing the hotel managers came up with is, acquiescing me of cancelling my rooms. To get a lower rate, which I did not. The management knows nothing about cuctomer service and how to keep customers! I will never stay at this hotel again!

Great Banquest Facilities
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/08
I have had a baby shower and a birthday party at the Clarion in Bristol and both were successful in that there was plenty of parking, the food and service was excellent. All my guests enjoyed their food. The banquest room was set up just the way we requested and best of all the price was right! I would highly recommend this place for any event.

Awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/24/08
This place was dirty and smelly. The beds were old and uncomfortable. The food in the breakfast buffet was stale, out-of-date. We stay at Choice Hotels across the country, and this was not even as good as an EconoLodge. I cannot believe Clarion allows it to use the name with out upgrades!

Banquet Facilities OK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/1/08
I live down the road from this place, and although I have never stayed overnight, I have gone to a wedding and a Christmas party in the banquet hall. The hall was a little outdated in my taste for the wedding, but by the time we had gone to the Christmas Party a few years later it was much improved. The service was pretty good, the price wasn't too bad (that I know of- the wedding couple didn't have a lot to spend), and it was rather clean. I would probably look into this place for a special occasion.

Would go again and again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/07
Our family stayed here and took advantage of a reasonably priced Lake Compounce package that included an overnight stay, tickets to the park, and a buffet breakfast. It is within a five minute drive of the park itself, which is important when traveling with young children. The staff were attentive and friendly, meeting all of our needs including replacing forgotten toiletries and placing an extra cot in our room. The non-smoking room we stayed in was clean and attractive and we had no problems with noise or other potential nuisances. The beds were comfortable with pillows that were refreshingly firm. In my opinion, the Clarion Hotel in Bristol is a wonderful family destination for a weekend trip. We may even take advantage of their Lake Compounce Halloween Package later this year. There is no doubt that my family would stay there again.
