Worst Hotel Ever
By ,
Don't stay at this hotel if a) you would like a peaceful nights sleep b) charges on your credit card that dont belong to you I was woken up several times during the late evening with screaming, drunk people running around. (The management could care less!) Then found that I was charged for items on my card that did not belong to me. Dealing with the accounting manager was very difficult and she was so unreasonable. I will never stay at a Marriott Hotel again if this is the way they treat their paying guests.

Outraged!
By ,
I recently attended a large convention in San Diego and shared a room with a fellow woman colleague at the Marriott San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. We arrived at night, after a long flight, checked in, had a late dinner at the hotel restaurant, and retired to bed. At 2 am we were startled out of our sleep by a man entering our room. He claimed he was security, and that he was there to lock us out because there was a problem with the credit card number we had given him at the front desk when registering. It was an outrageous way to handle this concern. Nobody from the front desk tried to call us in the room prior to the intrusion. We both felt extremely lucky that we were together, rather than each of us being a single woman in a hotel room. The front desk staff were only cursorily apologetic about the incident in the morning, and when I registered a complaint upon checking out, it was as if the incident had never happened, and they had no knowledge of it. I am outraged.

Nice Stay
By ,
The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

One of the nicest Mariotts I've been to
By ,
Great location, the Gaslamp Quarter has lots of stuff to do. Entering the hotel lobby at night is very cool, the front desk is backlit and the color of the lights constantly change. Very nicely decorated rooms, great bedding, super soft sheets! Beautiful views of the Coronodo Bridge and into Petco Park & downtown San Diego. Downstairs restaurant is OK but I would take a walk around town to find something better if you like to explore. We missed the lounge at the top of the hotel because we did not know it was there. I would have liked to try it, sounds fun! We had a nice and relaxing time, I would go again for sure!

Couldn't Get In...
By ,
I was very disappointed with this hotel. I had booked my reservation far in advance, and I called on check-in day to ensure that my reservation would be held for late check-in. Despite this, I was told upon arrival that the hotel had been overbooked and that I would have to go elsewhere. To the hotel's credit, they had arranged for accomodation at a nearby hotel with a comparable star rating. However, that substitute hotel was quite far from the downtown nightlife, and it was the proximity to downtown nightlife that had convinced me to choose the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter in the first place. I wasn't the only one turned away that night. When I pulled up to valet my car, the kind valet told me that I should check with the front desk before bothering to take my luggage out of the trunk, because he had seen many, many people get turned away that night. My advice: be careful when booking at this hotel. A reservation(even one paid in full in advance, as mine was) doesn't necessarily mean that you will be staying here.

Exceptional location and service
By ,
On the west side of the gaslamp District, this 20+ story hotel has superb amenities and the coolest rooftop bar in the area. Easy walking to all of the District but just off sixth street in a quiter area. Petco Park is next door and the lobby bar is beautiful also. Room amenities on the concierge floor were very nice and until the many buildings being constructed block the view of Del Coranado, I would kighly recommend!

Play ball
By ,
I just stayed here and I loved it. There service was great. I used to work at a hotel so when I say the service was great it is. The rooms where clean and nice. We where next to all the night clubs and bars so that was great. At the top of the hotel there was a bar which was very nice. The view from the roof allowed you to see the Petco Park field. To bad we got there too late to see the game.
