Nice hotel, bad service
By ,
This hotel was clean, and had a great atmosphere. Everyone seemed welcome here and everyone seemed happy. Or so it seemed. My friend and I were siting in our room one night and we were really bored. So we figured we could go outside our room to admire the rest of the hotel. The best place seemed to be the elevator, because we could see almost everything since they were made of glass, and we could talk to people, we even knew a couple of people staying at the hotel. We went into an elevator and went where the people went. We didn't press any buttons, because we didn't want to be annoying. We just stood there and talked to the people who came in the elevator and looked out the window. We even witnessed a group of drunk women who were being really noisy. A worker popped his head in and told them that they should stay quiet, in a nice and flirting way. We continued to ride the elevator meeting people when a man who worked at the hotel came in and went to floor 1. When we got there, he asked us if we were getting out, and we said no, then he asked us if we were riding the elevator, and we said yes. Immediately, he called over two security guards who threatened to take our pictures and made us go back into our room. We had done nothing wrong. We hadn't broken our curfew, we were quiet, we were just being friendly and admiring what seemed to be a perfect hotel. Later, we went out in the hallway, since we couldn't view the hotel from the elevator, and the same security guards were watching us. We realized that we were being punished because we were 16, and not over the age of 21, so they couldn't make money off of us by selling us drinks. Every other time we went to used to elevator, simply to go have breakfast or go back to our rooms, there were security guards watching us, making us feel uncomfortable and ruining our stay. Had we been 21, we would have been welcome, and we could have screamed at the top of our lungs in the hallways, but since we were underage, we couldn't even ride peacefully in the elevator. We see this as insulting, and now we look at embassy suites workers in an entirely different way, as if they don't want us there.

Sea World Trip
I liked that the hotel was very clean. You CAN park on the city street to avoid the $20 charge for parking in the covered garage. Happy Hour had veggies that was a big + for me. Fountain sodas n strong coffee! n we all know about their free spirits. Breakfast was a great value. The beds really do need to be queen though...please... the view from our room was great at the 12th floor overlooking the city. The pillows are NOT comfortable at all. So ask for many different ones. Or better yet bring your own. Other then that great trip! thanks Embassy Suites for a pleasant stay!

Watch your pocket
By ,
I checked out of hotel via their TV. and got a bill for extra night. Called and talked to kirkpatrick and he basically accued me of lying. I think hotel employees call and extend your stay by a night and since they have access to your room keys they enjoy your room at your expense. Make sure you give your keys to front desk and get a reciept that you are checked out.

Leave this one for another day!
By ,
If you are a business traveler, leave this hotel for families with the 2.5 kids - this hotel was crawling with kids! Many of the staff were very helpful and friendly, but a couple of them were insensitive, unsmiling, and unprofessional. Expensive parking and internet access is not worth the trouble. Unplug the phone and just dial-up. The lack of a desk to do work was especially irritating. Again, this hotel seems to cater to families and they need to get a clue. There really needs to be an adult only floor and a dedicated elevator to this floor. Many times I wheeled my briefcase into a wet elevator from wet pool users. My room had seen better days. Stains on the carpet and unsightly water damage on the ceiling - time for a refurbish and some tilex! Best part of the stay was the mall across the street and the great restaurants within walking distance. But you can get all that from staying down the street at the Marriott or Hyatt!

Always stay here
By ,
We always stay here when we visit San Diego, we've been at this place at least six or seven times in the past few years. We used to live in S.D. and love LaJolla so the Embassy is a good choice for families. My hubby also picks this place when he goes to S.D. for business. In regards to the last post, personally I LIKE the fact that the staff keeps an eye on teens and kids roaming the halls. I'm on vacation with little kids, I don't want or need loud noises or drunks outside my door. We've always enjoyed our stay here. In fact, we go back next month. Clean, friendly, professional...nice pool, great Koi pond, good breakfast and happy hour...I'd definitely recommend it.
