Don't waist your time...
By R, 9/11/08
This place was a complete dump in comparison to how the websites portray it. Let's begin with the entrance to the resort...not appealing and it actually scared me as we were driving up from the airport. Upon entering the resort, the front desk attendant seemed afraid and not welcoming at all. The rooms were average and dirty as in dusty and just seemed as though it needed general cleaning. The walls were dusty, as well as the floor...the corners had spider webbs. The bathroom was nice and updated, but dusty as well. Our television barely worked on roughly 8 eight channel. The rest of the channels were fuzzy the entire five days we were there. The remote control stopped working three times and each time we had to go to the front desk for assistance. The air conditioner barely cooled the room and upon arrival, the room was scorching hot because the air was off. Our vacation was booked six months in advance. What happened to expecting your guest and preparing for their arrival? All inclusive...the garbage buffet and kool-aid drinks were pretty much not worth paying for, except for the Lotus Leaf restaurant. It was a bit nicer, but nothing close to what we expected. There was nothing classy or appealing about either. The entire resort was dark and gloomy. There was no life to the place other than at night for about two hours when there was a hired Jamaican band. The gift shop was filled with old Jamaican gifts, extremely overpriced snacks, and other outdated items such as an Oprah magazine from May 2008 but we were there in September 2008. The internet room contained one old computer from the 90's. Oh did I mention there's no wireless network so don't expect that either. The beach was absolutely disgusting!!!! You had to cross a major "road" to get to the beach and it was filthy. The "poolside bar and grill" wasn't appealing and the beach lounge chairs were dirty as well. The entire time we were there the resort was undergoing lawn maintenance so we were greeted each morning (8:30 a.m.) to chain saws, lawn mowers, etc. The night before our departure we asked the front desk attendant to confirm with the prearranged transportation service our pick-up time and she brushed us off three times. Finally, she instructed us to go to our room and she would connect us via our room phone. What she didn't tell us was that the two minute call would cost $6.00!!! Quite frankly, I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. It wasn't worth the time or money. I wish there were some way these people could be penalized for falsely representing this resort. The pictures are misleading especially if you're a frequent resort traveler.

great resort that did not disappoint
By winehealsallwounds, 12/24/07
I must say this was a great resort that lived up to all my expectations -- including those set by this website! From an aesthetic and design point of view the place is excellent. It is smaller and more personal than some of the sprawling, concrete boxes one finds everywhere in the tropics these days. The cabins are set in a true garden with a real, live gardener who gives nature walks through the grounds (for those interested botany, birdwatching, etc). The beach is splendid and just a short walk across the main road. It's in a good location in the center of Bloody Bay. We spent at least three whole days just lounging on the beach. The food and drinks were all excellent. The staff were great -- very cheerful and helpful, you got the feeling they love their jobs. After exploring the greater Negril area, I realized we were living in the lap of luxury. I would recommend this resort to just about anyone.

Are you hiring so I can live here?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/07
We were there on our honeymoon and the best compiment I can give is that we did not want to go home. We were treated like a king and queen. We never wanted for anything. We ate the buffet 3 times a day for 7 days and never tired of it, there was always something different on it every day. The staff couldn't have been better or more friendly. Our room was spotless everyday when we got back from the beach which is also awesome. The atmoshpere is awesome as well. As a career groundskeeper I can honestly say that the grounds there were top of the line. We were made to feel like family all week and cannot wait to get back there. We are definitely coming with friends because after the stories we've told they can't wait to come with us. Most definately could not have been better, an A plus.

The Best secret I can't hold anymore
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/5/07
I loved the local, the people, the food, beaches and so on. But the most remarkable thing regarding this resort is the spa vibe and the ire feeling. Say "Hi" to Captain at the swim up bar for me!!!!Enjoy your stay although I now you will!!! PS. If you go on the shopping trip book it with Vanda, she will keep you safe and having fun!!

Love inJamaica
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/07
I went to Negril in April 2005 for my hineymoon. SATP is small and intimate, the perfect-sized resort for relaxation or romance. I love the natural setting! I wanted to go on an "island vaction" not feel like I was in a city hotel room and the Sunset at the Palms was perfect for that. Although there was only the buffet (with certain serving times) the food was amazing. A lot of my dinner actually came form the resort grounds! The SATP beachfront was probably the best section I saw on Bloody Bay. Its a little far from town, though if you are lookin for nightlife. Bottom line: It was perfect for a honeymoon, but if I go back for fun I'll probably try the cliff side of Negril.

Absolutly breath-taking!
By Hick, 4/3/07
My husband and I went to Jamaica for our honeymoon and stayed at Sunset at the Palms. The Resort: Upon our arrival to the resort we were greeted with cool, fresh guava/pinapple juice and after check-in we were escourted to our private bungalow. The entire stay we were living in the lap of luxary, we were not allowed to lift a finger the whole time... I felt spoiled. The only downside were the bugs, Jamaica is a tropical climate and in turn attracts bugs. We did have a slight problem in our room with ants, they were attracted to the glasses from our juice, but once we learned of the problem we just made sure to rinse our cups out when we were finished with them. On the upside of the bugs, each night, as we laid in bed, we fell asleep to a wonderful serenade of the local critters. The food: To die for. A wonderful buffet was open to us at each meal. Fresh fruit, juice and many different types of cultural foods. There was very little we did not like and even if there were foods we did not like there was still pleanty to fill us. We never had empty stomachs. The Beach and Pool: No matter which one you chose the water was crystal clear in both. The perfect temperature to cool you during the hot days. In the evening when the tide came in the beach was a little cooler then I liked, but we just headed to the pool. Perched ourselves on a stool at the swim-up bar and ordered up a tall glass of blended fruit punch. The perfect ending to our perfect day. **BEWARE THE RUM** I found myself to be a bit of a light weight. Jamaican rum is very strong and they not only use it in drinks but in desserts too. If you're not into drinking or just can't handle your alcohol, this may be something to keep in mind. Sunset at the Palms is a perfect setting to being a life together or just get back to the romance in a relationship. I can't wait to go back again!

Loved It!!!
By Jill, 12/15/06
My boyfriend and I stayed at this resort Dec 1st thru the 6th 2006 and found it to be extremely relaxing. It was a smaller resort without a lot of people. There wasn't a lot to do for nightlife there but for just chilling out, it is perfect. The staff are all awesome and the rooms are small, but very nice.

Paradise found........
By brwnskndiva, 11/28/06
What's there not to like...This place is absolutely beautiful. We were looking for a relaxing vacation, and that's exactly what we got. The cabins...wonderful, the food...excellent, the service....on point, the drinks....off the chain, especially the hummingbird, the staff...great group of people (Anchia, Gregg, Kirk, Omar, Rory, Vanessa, beach grill cook)you guys are the best. I was looking for a nice resort that was in line with (Temptation Island, Forever Eden) and SATP is definitely that. The tree frogs were a welcoming soothing exotic sound at night, the weather was perfect. My husband and I have never smiled so much, that's what SATP will do to you. From the time you arrive off of the shuttle bus until the time you leave, you are treated like royalty. The resort is so laid back, you would think that you were the only people there, you hardly ever see anyone else, well you may see about 10-12 lounging at the pool bar. I would however recommend that you bring your own bug repelent, it's pretty expensive on the island, and if you really like to drink, bring your own big gulp mug, the glasses there are small. If you're looking to party, you have to go elsewhere for that. SATP is limited on entertainment. Tip on shopping, if you're going to buy T-shirts, buy them at Times Square, they're cheaper than those at the crafters market, and always remember to haggle for the lowest price possible at the crafters market, if you don't, they will try and rip you off. You can also haggle with the taxi drivers, that's if you decide you want to experience the nightlife or go into town for shopping. You can't go wrong by staying at SATP. You can email me should you have any further questions or want more tips.
