Nirvana Cottages, Negril

This year was our 5th time at Nirvana. The staff are the friendliest, most hard working, very knowledgeable and anxious to please. Leon and Breezy are two of the drivers for Nirvana and they will take you anywhere with smiles always on their faces. The security Staff, Errol, Patrick and Rojan, I think I missed one make sure the grounds are watched at all times. They will have your chairs waiting on the beach when you come down. The cleaning staff are in and out of your accommodation before you know it and everything is clean and smelling good for your return. While on the beach there are many vendors for fruit, baked goods, patty man for lunch and many others. Restaurants are all up and down the beach and we have not eaten in a bad one. Don't forget the restaurants on the cliffs and the Best in the West on the road just up from Nirvana for jerk chicken. We spent two weeks in paradise and started to count the days before we get to come back when we got home.

I've been to Negril 4 times and stayed at Nirvana the last 2 visits. I will never stay anywhere else! The best staff, beautiful property and cool cottages. The cottages have great living space with a living room, dining area and full kitchen. When I step out the door, my toes are in the sand, the sun is shining and the breeze is blowing! Come home after a day on the beach and the staff has made a home cooked Jamaican meal at my request! CU next year!

It is more like you come as a Guest and Leave as Family. You can go to those all inclusive any where but when you are in Jamaica you need to have the Jamaican experience. There is no place better then Nirvana on the Beach. The accommodations are great, food vendors on the beach the best and walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and you don't need to even put on your shoes. It is always so hard to leave but as I was told by David last year, "you need to leave so you can come back" and we will be going back for year 3 in 2012. Being used to the major resort scene, I held some reservation upon arrival but my gosh I shouldn't have. The staff immediately dispelled any ill feelings I may have had. Everyone was incredibly friendly, they take great care and pride in maintaning the entire fascility and it shows. You could NOT ask for a better slice of beach and the security staff (Erol, Shine, all whom I can't remember) make you feel safe and secure, never once did I worry about my personal effects being stolen. Nirvana may not have a restaurant or bar on the premisis but quite frankly, they don't need it, there's a ton of food, drink, and music within walking distance PLUS it kept the entire resort quiet making sleeping a breaze. I WILL be back soon, I'm saving money as we speak

Nirvana is truly heaven on earth! Located right in the middle of Seven Mile Beach, this hideaway is the perfect location to stay in Negril. Within walking distance to everything on the beach. The staff is super friendly. The driver, Leon, will take you anywhere you want to go, wait for you, and take you back at a good price. The security guards (Errol, Rohan, Shine) are what truly make Nirvana. They will watch your things on the beach, keep the salesmen out of your hair, and get you amazingly low prices on anything you want or need. Book at Nirvana now, you will not be disappointed.

Nirvana was in the perfect location that allowed us to get away from the typical resort-style vacation. By far the nicest beach and grounds we saw on our walks up and down the beach. The staff was very friendly, the room was spotless, and the information provided in the room was helpful. We didn't know what to expect and were a little nervous about being on our own in Negril but were pleasantly surprised with the whole trip. We will definitely be back (hopefully in the near future!) to Nirvana. Tips: 1) Grocery store 10 minutes by taxi, but plenty of restaurants on beach. Try jerk stands on the roadside, especially The Best in the West, across the street, for the best grilled shrimp. 2) Bring bug spray for mosquitoes after sunset. 3) Bring a flashlight just in case. 4) Go the the West End/Cliffs and LTU Pub for a beautiful view and amazing food.

We loved Nirvana. I just happened upon this property on the internet and could not have been happier. We stayed in the Veranda Suite and loved it. The staff was very friendly & helpful. Leon,our driver was the best. Leon picked us up at the airport and when we got to Nirvana Doris was there to meet us. The security Errol,Shine & Nicardo did an excellent job and always had time to chat. Moses the the other grounds keepers, keep the beach and grounds exceptional. The house keeping ladies did a fine job, they were in & out before you knew it. It is very true when they say you come as a guest and leave feeling like family. Seven mile beach was wonderful. There are plenty of restaurants & bars close by. I would not hesitate to go back to Nirvana, in fact I am hoping to go back in February 2011. It was the best vacation I have ever had!!!

We had a FANTASTIC experience at Nirvana. We honestly could not have picked a better place to vacation and experience Negril. The sundeck suite was perfect - proximity to the water, well-maintained, great amount of space for us, and we loved the landscaping/layout so that we didn't feel like we were staying at the same place with many other people. The staff was fantastic - Leon was terrific, the daytime security guard (not sure of name spelling) was so kind and helpful, and Doris was a great resource as well. We felt safe and well taken-care of. We could really tell that everyone who worked there cared about their role - from housekeeping to the grounds maintenance man. We especially loved how "private" the beach felt, and didn't feel harassed by solicitors or as if we had to compete for beach or water space. We also loved the access to the rafts, kayaks, etc. All in all, it was the perfect choice. We will DEFINITELY be back!!

We always try to have a good time on vacation and not let bad accommodations ruin our hard earned time off. We loved Jamaica but, Nirvana is truly an overpriced dump - I really question all the great reviews! DECOR: The rooms are very dated and decorated with garage sale kitch. One wall hanging was actually hung with large paper clips! Sheets and towels are threadbare and rough. Furniture is seventies style bamboo with worn cushions. NO MANAGEMENT ON SITE: There is no front desk and no phones in the rooms to call and report any problems or issues. The water on our outdoor shower was out for two days. Then, the water in all the faucets, toilet, shower, etc stopped working. We knocked on the door of the "management office" for two days an no one ever answered. After 2 days we finally got a hold of someone finally get it fixed KITCHEN: - Ancient appliances - we had to stand by the toaster and keep pressing toast down at least 5 times to get bread to toast - Ants - make sure to clean up the kitchen all times are you'll get hundreds of ants all over the counter and dishes. - None of the dishes, glasses, etc matched NOISE - There was a concert right next door one night that lasted until 4 in the morning!!!! The speakers were so close to our room that the base was causing the walls to vibrate - I am not exaggerating. We were totally exhausted! Again, we made sure to be good sports about it all and not think about all the $$$ we spent on this dump. Seven mile beach is a great beach with lots of great bars and restaurants. However, we thought Couples was tons nicer and found out it was cheaper and included drinks and meals! We'll definitely be going there next year instead!

Look no further for the best spot in Negril! We stayed in a cottage the first night, and one of the verandah suites for the rest of the week, and both were beautifully decorated and had everything you could possibly need in the kitchens. The grounds are lovingly landscaped, with plenty of shade, should you feel the need to escape the sun. But the real asset at Nirvana is the staff. They are absolutely outstanding. Errol keeps any unwanted vendors at bay on the beach and – after I took a canoe out one morning – made sure it was ready and waiting for me every morning thereafter, without being asked. Shine patrols the grounds all night long and even provides a wake-up service for guests crazy enough to want to get up at 3 am to participate in the Reggae Marathon! It was our first stay, and we wouldn’t contemplate staying anywhere else on our next trip.
